Parks

Pembrey Country Park is a vast area managed by Carmarthenshire County Council, offering a variety of facilities and activities. Visitors can enjoy dry-slope skiing, pitch-and-putt, and a model railway. The park spans 180 acres with nature trails, an adventure area featuring wooden playgrounds for both older children and toddlers. There are also forest tracks for hiking or biking, including rough mountain bike trails for the more adventurous cyclists.

This was a beautiful experience. There were lots of people there but it felt safe with covid regulations. It was lovely to see the lights and the special effects. Looking forward to seeing what you do next year. The free entry was wonderful too :)

A great range of family activities and landscape is available here. From golf, ski centre, cycling, great woodland trails and access to a really fabulous beach. We descended upon the Visitor Centre to grab our illustrated map of the country park, but we stayed for fresh coffee and some great value sanswiches from the kitchen. All delivered by a great, friendly staff team.Even out of season this will be a favourite family fun and exercise location...

Took the dog and she loved it! Really great location for pet lovers and families - a cafe style restaurant, a milk shake dispenser, a pirate ship to play on- what more could you need? The weather was windy and wet, but who cares? Wales is beautiful and the kite surfers were certainly enjoying themselves!! 😍🐕❤️🪁🦜⛱️🐚🌭🍔🥛

Pembrey county park is huge, with a lot to do if the weather is right. We went in winter and it was raining and very windy but still enjoyed a wind swept walk. You can get to the beach here, go for a walk in the forest, go on a minature train, play crazy golf to name a few. Most of these were closed as out of season but the cafe was open at the visitor centre. Loads of places to have a picnic and the beach is huge. The one down side we found as we went on a whim is that you need a map (no phone reception at the beach end but is we found itat the visitor centre) as this place is so big it's easy to not actually find what you are looking for, and there is loads and loads of parking. We paid £3.50 for the day as stayed over the two hours.

Chris E — Google review

Only had a spare couple of hours in our day and spent it here. Headed for car park 1, which gives direct access to the dog friendly part of the beach. Lovely flat and firm underfoot and plenty of space. Headed back inland after an hour (when we managed to find an exit route) and walked back through the lovely woods. The whole place is massive and you could come day after day and still find different routes to take. All appeared litter free and a lovely milkshake machine by the car park paypoint. Will definitely try and get back before we return home. 😀

Stunning Country Park with lots of open spaces.A huge beach (Cefn Sidan) that stretches for miles. Lots of history as it was originally a Ministry of Defence site with old bunkers from WW1 and WW2.Great place for walking or cycling around the park, with cafe, bike hire, ski slope, tobogan miniature railway, horse riding, etc.

Andy C — Google review

amazing for family days out has a bit of everything, beach, park, fields and trails ticket is sleep but id suggest if your going in spend as much time as possible as the ticket is around 8 pounds for anything over 2 hours

Josh F — Google review

Such a gorgeous beach! Be warned, that shipwreck is an optical illusion! It never seems to get any closer the more you walk towards it! Haha!We had a beautiful woodlands walk to and food at the end. A cracking day’

Duncan C — Google review

A brilliant day out. The crazy golf is great - miniature features from round the park. Also great walks for the dogs on the beach and round the woods. Some historic WWI and WWII round the park

Jason — Google review

We had a fantastic day out here , the staff at the ski centre were helpful and made both our taboganing and tubing experience fun ,. The sensory play park that has been added recently is the best play park we have been too ,. Compared to other local attractions this is such good value for families on a budget.

Bill C — Google review

This is a wonderful place, so many different walks, things to see and do. Been here twice this year and love it so much we will be visiting again. There are specific areas for dogs, we played foot golf and crazy golf and didn't have enough time to do all the other activities. Bike hire was very competitive (bikes could be a little better) and the cycle routes are incredible and particularly easy and flat if you're used to cycling. Lots of space to run around, play ball games, visit the beach and enjoy a little steam railway. The cafe is great and stocks a good range of food. There are plenty of toilets all around the area and all are easily accessible and were clean each time we used them. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Tips if going to the beach is to check tide times as the sea goes out a long way. It was windy every day we visited and the sand can whip up quite a bit but is a great safe sandy beach and brilliant fun. You can walk miles but be mindful of tide times so you don't get stranded. The dog beach isn't very easily accessible from what we could see but once on the beach the dog can run themselves silly. Great place, love it.

Michele H — Google review

The country park itself is beautiful plenty do , walk, cycle, dry ski slope, golf etc, history. But for me the jewel in the crown of the extraordinary place is cefn sidan beach , beautiful doesn't cover it , over eight miles of glorious sandy beach , lots of beach activities taking place, kite buggies, land yachting , swimming, but the walks first thing in the morning really set me up for the day. Wild ,very windy and fresh , fantastic.

Bugsy R — Google review

What a great place! Huge park, plenty of places to park once you enter. Was £8 to park all day, but the trails, beach, and WW reinactment event was spot on. Lots of space for dogs to run about and to sit and eat some great food. The dog section beach was a little further walk, however the carparks right at the bottom didnt make it too much of an issue. so worth it as it was so open and plenty of room. Especially if you have a reactive dog, you'd have a great time with your pooch 💚Will definitely be coming againBEAR loved it 🐺💚

Cherry M — Google review

Really fun!!!We went on the toboggan and it was sooooo worth the money. It was really fun for the kids though children under 8 needed an adult with them. Also it is really safe because you can brake whenever you want and grass surrounds the slide.

SE L — Google review

My absolute favourite place to visit on a hot sunny day! There is so much open space for children to run around playing games, woodland trails to wander, activities to do and the beach is without a doubt the absolute best. There are many carparks available throughout the park too. A few cafes around the park too. My only gripe is that I wish there was an area to buy drinks after the cafes shut etc, or water refill areas where you can fill bottles to drink.

Rachel H — Google review

Fantastic place for all the family. Great unspoilt beach, loads of trails in the woods, plus lots for kids to do. Highly recommend 👍

Deborah D — Google review

I love playing their disc golf course. It’s short with very interesting lines. Great for the whole family and after playing 9 holes you can stop at the cafe. The rest of the country park is great as well: lovely walks, mini golf, bike rides etc

Gabi E — Google review

PLUS POINTS....Good walking areas, not far from beach, tidy food at a tidy price in cafe. Toilets clean and tidy but at peak season with how many pitches there i are can see chaos as there are not many toilets etc.. good friendly staff.NEGATIVE POINTS..The pitches by where I stayed were very worn out (just left of main entrance), bit of rain and they are just going to be mud holes , could do with more water points for such a big site. Been to cheaper and better sites.

Steveo D — Google review

Well run Park and campsite excellent.Enjoyed our stay with 3 dogs. Lovely woodside walks , fab beach.Could do with a better well stocked shop for campers. Local Coop 10min drive outside Park in Kidwelly.Camping charges cheap compared to other sites .

Gordon L — Google review

Pembrey Country Park has been my go-to campsite since I was a youngster... Though you can tell that they have really pumped money into the place. There's modern toilet / shower blocks dotted around the campsite, a gorgeous restaurant with shop in the main building, and a and a plentiful amount of parks to keep the kids distracted. There's never nothing to do as the surroundings are beautiful, you could go on scenic walks one day and go for horse riding the next. We woke up on Monday morning to massive military planes test flying nearby - as there's a base not too far away you get to see them as they make their laps. I found it incredibly interesting but I can understand it may not be everyone's cup of tea having loud planes making laps above you for hours on end. Overall it's a perfect place to spend a few days!

Castle

Sights & Landmarks

Castell Cydweli, also known as Kidwelly Castle, is a well-preserved Norman-era fortress that offers historic exhibits and stunning views. The castle played a significant role in history following the Norman Conquest of England in 1066. It features motte and bailey architecture and hosts costumed events. Visitors can enjoy various activities nearby, such as horseback riding on Pendine Sands or trekking up Black Mountain. The castle is dog-friendly and provides treats for furry companions.

One of the beautiful castle of Wales and the village is also very beautiful. The only problem we faces that there is no nearest cafe or restaurant that open during lunch time. So we had to drive far for having our lunch. Overall the journey was pleasant and could be a good day trip for anyone who lives south-west wales.

Prianka S — Google review

Visited on 10/12/2022. This for me was my first-ever visit to a Castle. I loved how we were left to explore the ruins and grounds. How you could climb the very steep stairs to get an amazing view of the surrounding areas. Fun-filled facts are potted around the grounds, allowing insight into the history of the castle. It takes less than an hour to walk around, however, there are benches inside the grounds where you can top for a breather or a quick snack.Small car park near the entrance. Toilets available as well.

David J — Google review

Best ruined castle I have ever seen. Outer and Inner curtain walls complete, buildings inside the castle walls still standing except roofs. It is possible to see how the castle functioned. In a wonderful location alongside a river. Gift shop and toilet, adequate parking for cars and motorhomes.

Michael ( — Google review

One of the busiest castles I have been too. Dog friendly on ground levels. Free car park just before and limited at the castle.

Laura D — Google review

This is a really well looked after castle. We have been to all sorts throughout Wales and I've got to say I was surprised at how good Kidwelly was.Plenty of space to explore and some educational areas to.Dogs are welcome on shorts leads and on ground levels only which makes a lot of sense as some staircases are narrow. We went on a very quiet day but I imagine those stairs can be pretty precarious when it's busy.Lots of places to sit down and there's some picnic benches towards the back of the castle. Some great views from the castle walls too.The staff were very friendly and welcoming. At the time we went it was £7.50 for adults.

Judy B — Google review

A small, but relatively intact castle, hidden away in deepest Wales. Well worth a visit - probably won't take more than a couple of hours to look round, but you'll be glad you went. Lovely views from the top of the keep, and lots of little stairs and rooms for kids to explore.

Tom W — Google review

Spent an amazing 2 hrs walking around the hidden rooms up and down the battlements .plenty of information to read about the castles history. You get a whole different perspective from the battlements. You can walk around the outside if it's closed by going down the steps by the 1 disabled space. Also, turn right to go visit the old town bridge. Outer wall of the castle and the old water mill now an antique store

JACKIE C — Google review

Took a full hour to walk around and explore, nicePlace to visit but not a full day trip. Would be nice to eat your lunch here if it’s a warm day.

Ally B — Google review

One of my favorite castles in Wales. It's relatively complete -- still a ruin, but more complete than many other Cadw sites. It's quite large as well, with clear outer and inner baileys, and a suitably awe inspiring front gate. There's one tower to climb for great views across the town and estuary. One room had some detailed information about the history of the castle. The ticket office and shop were nice and they have toilets. £7 pounds for adults at the time of writing.

Douglas A — Google review

We loved exploring the various parts of the castle and bought the guide at reception for more in depth information. Climbing the stairs to the top isn't for the faint hearted or ones less mobile but the views were amazing

Chantal N — Google review

Hidden gem of a castle set in a beautiful little village. It's cheap to get in, very beautiful, with mostly intact towers and walls, with tonnes of spiral staircases, passageways and dungeons to explore. Incredibly panoramic views from the top of the middle tower in all directions.Very much worth a visit

Samuel A — Google review

Absolutely amazing old castle has been well looked after to allow visitors to safely walk around large areas of the building and grounds. I especially loved walking around the parapet and the amazing views from up there

Jakki W — Google review

Great castle ruins run by CADW. Reasonable prices for a visit as the money goes towards the upkeep of welsh historic monuments. There is a gift shop and toilets on site, but no refreshments kiosk. A small car park is available on site, although the is free car parking a short walk away.

Anthony B — Google review

Been before and this is such a lovely well manicured castle. We are able to walk up around the battlements and have amazing views of the area and castle ruins.

Mike G — Google review

Beautiful 13th century castle with more than you would expect! This place had 3 courtyard areas and seating throughout. A lot of areas aren't blocked off because the castle is so well preserved. We went on a Monday and were the only ones there and they was plenty of parking. My husband parked down by the slaughter house which was a nice little addition and allowed us to also see the gatehouse on the way up. Very affordable as well! I highly recommend stopping by and giving it a walk through. We were there for 2 hours, so quite a bit of small and large areas to explore and find.

Sarah W — Google review

Well priced as its not your mainstream place to go, and the assumed costs in keeping it up together.Very quaint and lovely little castle, well maintained grass areas. Couple of picnic tables that we enjoyed a snack on inside with my 4 and 3 year olds. They were very excited and keen to learn about it and the voice boxes were a nice touch they listened intently to.Lots of the castle left, can even traverse 3 floors instead of just the ruins of one.Even though small, we spent 2 hours with the children investigating each little cubby. If your local, worth a stop off for sure!

Alex C — Google review

What a great example of a 13th-century castle. There are plenty of rooms, ramparts, and towers to explore. You don't realise how big it is until you get inside. The views from the top of the tower/walls are breathtaking. We visited over the bank holiday weekend, and there was a falconry team with a selection of amazing birds. The guy running the team really knew his stuff and engaged well with our daughter and gave her an amazing experience with Harris Hawk. The staff in the gift shop were helpful and gave us a map which helped navigate and gave us a little information. There is plenty of free parking on site.

Steven M — Google review

This isn't just a castle; it's a dramatic plunge into the pages of history, complete with battles, sieges, and tales of resilience. Erected in the early 12th century, this Norman fortress stands as a formidable testament to medieval military architecture and the turbulent history of Wales. As you approach Kidwelly Castle, its imposing walls and towers command your attention, whispering tales of the past. The castle has witnessed countless conflicts, including the fierce struggles during the Welsh uprisings. Each stone here seems to hold a story of bravery, strategy, and survival.Wandering through the castle's remains, you're treated to a labyrinth of towers, battlements, and gatehouses. The view from the top? Simply breathtaking. It's like stepping into a medieval painting, with panoramic views of the Gwendraeth Valley that will have you reaching for your camera faster than a knight draws his sword. But Kidwelly Castle isn't just about grandeur and battles; it's a symbol of endurance. Despite the ravages of time and history, it stands proudly, inviting visitors to explore its depths and imagine life in a bygone era.

EmC P — Google review

Really good castle .Well preserved and in a great setting. Well.worth a visit plus some really interesting history about Medieval Welsh kingdoms.

Andy W — Google review

Very interesting castle. Dog friendly, the staff gave treats to all the dogs that arrived.Access for disabled is as good as you can expect for an ancient monument, bearing in mind that to see it all, there's a lot of steep steps to climb.I managed quite a bit of this on crutches, but some of it you won't be able to get to. It is what it is.The castle is very impressive and bigger than you think from the entrance, the views are great and the toilets are clean and right by the entrance. There are two car parks but they're not big, so go early. There are also some very nice walks along the river.

Tony P — Google review

Really enjoyed visiting Kidwelly Castle. Lovely views of surrounding countryside. The map and guide book helped us to make sense of the ruins during and after the visit. Staff were very friendly.

Carol D — Google review

Kidwelly Castle is a great stop if you like castles and history. We climbed, explored, studied, and enjoyed the beautiful setting for over 90 minutes.

Michael S — Google review

What a lovely castle. I've never seen so many rooms to explore. The grandchildren loved it. A reasonable price to enter too. It was a wet day, but we were given advice to be careful as it may be slippery. We really enjoyed this castle and would definitely visit again. I would recommend it too, but some of the steps are quite steep and some are narrow, but with care we managed it all. 👍

Botanical garden

Nature & Parks

The National Botanic Garden of Wales is a sprawling estate located in the Tywi valley countryside. Once an aristocratic estate, it now boasts various plant habitats such as lakes, bogs, and heaths with numerous decorative areas and educational exhibits. The highlight of this garden is the spectacular Great Glasshouse designed by Norman Foster, which is the largest single-span glasshouse in the world.

A very young garden, compared to those in other parts of the UK, with some some glorious details and features. The walled garden is just fascinating, and within it, the butterfly house is a wonderful place to stop and stare at these amazing tropical insects all around. The huge feature dome hosts a warm ‘Mediterranean’ type semi arid climate, the deep ravine emphasising the contrasts found in those regions.Enough here to happily occupy a day, with lunch in the old farmhouse.

Very nice place. Lovely clean toilets. Great for all ages. There are lots of different plants to look at and a bonus on the way out - a garden centre 😀 will definitely be going back ( on a cooler day though, we went when it was 28'c). Lovely walks to do around the area.

A lovely day spent at the National Botanic Gardens. Beautifully presented gardens, lots of walks and great for all ages. Nice gift shop, plenty of places for refreshments and a restaurant (try the lamb pastie). A must is the bird of prey area and definitely pay the extra £3 to watch a display, you'll be amazed at how close the birds fly and land around you. Thank you Botanical Gardens and your staff are all very knowledgeable and friendly.

This place is a great family day out. So varied and much to see. There is various themed gardens to walk around, indoor greenhouses with exotic plants and the largest single span glass greenhouse in the world. There is also a lots of walks as your also in the national nature reserve. Also we'll worth visiting is the British bird of prey centre. The cafe serves good quality food too.You can even take your dog with you on Fridays and Mondays, but check the website to confirm.

Well kept and beautiful. Stunning place to visit. A must to place. Tickets are £16 and 20p for a map. When you have paid you can have entry to go again over 7 days.I would take the day to do the walls available there as well. There is a walk round a lake and to a waterfall which will take An of 2 hours. There are birds of prey and they do a show twice a day (times may vary) and for and experience for £10 you can fly an owl or a red kite. (Late afternoons) But book on with the wild bird section.Lovely little cafe there. Not to bad a price. Wheelchair and pushchair friendly. Disability parking the the front and parent and child.

Lovely place to visit if you like botanical gardens. We really enjoyed it. The food and drink selection is small but they have vegan cakes. Very elderly and disabled friendly as they operate golf buggies between the different buildings. The birds of pray show is a must, we loved it.

Melinda A — Google review

A lovely place for a wander and to look at a massive range of plants and flowers and trees etc etc. Visited at end of August so not so many blooms left but still colourful. Has a massive greenhouse structure. Also on site is the bird of prey centre which is worth 5 stars in itself. Couple of areas to get a coffee and cake so all is cool.

Six hours here and we didn't see it all!! Staff were very helpful and informative. Lots to see dispite it being early in the year. Hope to return later in the summer. Your ticket is valid for seven days which is great if you're staying local. The bird of prey flying wad spectacular and informative. It's a good day out for all, plus where your mobility scooter cannot get the provide a buggy and knowledgeable driver to take you, such as down to the lakes. Highly recommended.

Despite the inclement weather, our visit to the National Botanic Garden of Wales and Birds of Prey Centre was thoroughly enjoyable. The lush greenery of the botanical garden provided a serene atmosphere, offering a delightful escape into nature. Despite the rain, the vibrant flora and well-maintained pathways made exploring the gardens a pleasant experience. The Birds of Prey Centre was a highlight of the visit, with captivating displays showcasing the majesty and grace of these magnificent creatures. The knowledgeable staff provided insightful commentary, enhancing the educational aspect of the experience.Overall, despite the weather, it was a fantastic day out, and I would highly recommend a visit to anyone seeking to appreciate the beauty of nature and the awe-inspiring presence of birds of prey.

Kieran D — Google review

Now, I'm no gardener, and in truth I don't really appreciate plants. I was dragged to the Botanic Garden somewhat reluctantly - but actually I quite enjoyed our visit. We probably didn't go at the best time of year for the outdoor displays (March), but the gardens were still pleasant to wander around, and the main building was spectacular to be in. Easy parking, good catering, good shop, and if you do like a bit of gardening, lots of stuff in their centre on the way out. My favourite bit? The tree roots.

Paul C — Google review

A beautiful place to visit any time of year - membership is definitely worth it if you will be a return visitor! I’ve been visiting since it opened, and it’s wonderful to see the growth and changes not only seasonally but over the years. The walking trails are a must too if the gardens themselves get too busy! The only disappointment from my most recent visit is that the water feature in the glasshouse is looking a big algae filled and neglected due to the waterfall being switched off and there being no fish in the pond.

willbesprog — Google review

The most beautiful, tranquil and relaxing place to visit for a day out with very friendly, informative, kind and helpful members of staff. The tickets seem a little pricey at first, but for me, the gardens and whole experience ended up being worth every penny from the moment I passed through the doors to my botanical adventure. I just wish I could visit every week to enjoy all the flowers and various plants throughout the year!

Givenny K — Google review

No matter what the Welsh weather throws at you, it's the most beautiful garden with a huge variety of trees and plants ,native and from far afield. Plenty of places to shelter and you can be ferried around by large or small electric buggies, just stick your thumb out or talk to them in reception. Everyone is there to help and inform. Large food area with plenty of choice with disabled facilities throughout. Wheel chair friendly everywhere but strong arms a must or electric power as most if the site has a gradient.

The National Botanic Garden of Wales is truly a special location. The grounds are littered with sights and spectacles for all interests.Parking is plentiful, with all disabled and parent with child spaces located near the entrance. The gardens themselves are rich with history and wildlife, with walled gardens, Japanese themed gardens and so much more.. you're bound to find something you'll enjoy here. There's a cafe situated in the center of the grounds with easy access to all, a playground is also located closely next to the iconic glasshouse.Walks around the grounds can vary from 30 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the direction of your route. Be sure to pack comfortable, waterproof shoes for any muddy situations you may find yourself in.

Adam T — Google review

It was quite beautiful. The main greenhouse was very cool, each section was a different area of the world. The tropical greenhouse was amazing. We visited in autumn so not everything was in flower but it was still quite beautiful. The cafe and gift shop were both nice and not too expensive. It is definitely worth a visit.

Robyn — Google review

Well, this is our first time, the experience is good , we found the grounds well done . Each place you go to it was a good experience , the plants in the dome are from all around the world + very warm in there from the glass. We stopped off to Tenby, and it was the best experience ,so we decided to go back on Saturday because there's a lot to see . The staff are very friendly and helpful. If you are disabled you can go around in a buggy from door up to the dome, there garden shop to buy plates. There is a restaurant which you can site outside our inside. It is very clean and well shocked of food. We have to go back soon.

Graham E — Google review

Beautiful place. A lot more to see than imagined. Falconry, stunning gardens even when we visited at the end of September. A small cafe within a large courtyard and a larger restaurant/Café, we sat in a glass covered conservatory, lovely and warm. Lots of people walking with their dogs. Looked great for families too.

What a great day out. Lots to see, wear good walking boots/shoes lots of walking exploring to do done. Staff very informative walled garden will be full by late spring/summer. Birds of prey, many waterfalls in woodlands. Things for the children. Inside the dome is stunning, warm, smells gourgous with the flowers. If you keep your receipt you can revisit, great idea.

Beautiful gardens to walk around.Apothecary, Birds of Prey Tropical glasshouses and Gruffalo trail in wonderful woodland that leads to lake and waterfall. The whole day spent walking around exploring paths that take you around the grounds, sending you in different directions to explore and enjoy the many sculptures and hidden places.Amazing place to HE my children attend English Maths & Science Very privileged to have these beautiful gardens on our doorstep.Tickets cost £15 and you have the following seven days after your admission to come back and visitSo, if you don't get to see everything in one day, you have the full week to see the whole of the beautiful botanical gardens.Would recommend to everyoneBuggy carts are free and can take you anywhere within the park, so if you like me, find it hard to walk everywhere as long as you can find a warden with a walkie-talkie you will be able to call for a pick up in a buggy. Which is great fun. Kids will love it. Lots to exploreCafe and Gift shopToilets at Reception on arrival or in the cafe area.

Visited during Easter holiday and it was very nice. Kids loved playing in and around the water features. The falconry centre was excellent with beautiful flying display with snowy owl, golden eagle and long eared owl.

Thus was a wonderful place to visit. The core of the garden was very wheelchair friendly and dog friendly but the paths out of the core are a little unstable under wheels so our companion on a mobility scooter decided to turn back. The food was delicious and it was great to have the dog with us in the cafe rather than having to sit in the cold outside. Will definitely visit again!

Spend 5 hours looking around in mid April. Weather can get quite windy on the exposed parts of the site, so dress appropriately. Great plant diversity, especially in the biome. Easy to park. Suggest arriving early. Not too many schools visiting.

Last night we had the pleasure of attending the laminate experience. On Sunday we took part in the santa fun run for cancer. Previously I took my little boy to explore the walk on the gruffalo trail.Every single experience has been absolutely fantastic. The organisation, kindness and support from everyone they employ and every single volunteer is just outstanding. Whatever the reason to visit (there are so many and each are most definitely worth it) I highly recommend going.

Well maintained grounds and a fantastic glass house. The embroidery done by volunteers are an artistic and creative way to communicate science to the public.

Dinefwr Castle is situated on top of a hill, surrounded by a 324-hectare estate that includes a deer park, pasture, woods and an Iron Age fort. The castle dates back to the 12th century and offers stunning panoramic views of the valley below. The estate also includes Newton House, a magnificent 17th-century manor with a Victorian Gothic facade. Within the grounds are hidden remains of a Roman fort.

Stunning, simply stunning. Wonderful staff - knowledgeable, friendly, welcoming. The castle is worth the climb for the incredible views. Absolutely stunning. I'm no where near clever enough to take a picture that will do it justice. Newton House is so interesting. The exhibits on for our visit were fascinating - 125 (125years of NT) items found in and around the house. Including fragments of papers, a Roman urn, the remnants of a candle, a thimble, a quill found in a fire place. So interesting to see a different history of the House from forgotten, disregarded items.

What a wonderful surprise! We just took a last minute detour to visit this area. The views from the castle were absolutely stunning. The best views we’ve seen of Wales so far. It is a bit of an uphill hike from the parking area but worth it. Once you get to the castle walk up to the very top of the tower. There are two levels using spiral staircases.

Terri G — Google review

Lovely castle with a couple of routes to get up to it. One way has a fairly steep hill, but there's another way up that isn't as steep. Wonderful woods with plenty of wildlife on the way up. Gorgeous views all around.

Jessibeth15 — Google review

The Castle is maintained by CADW but is with the National Trust estate of Dinefwr. It is quite a walk from the car park and is up quite a steep hill (it is the ideal spot for a castle defensively). The views from the battlements and those towers still accessible are great and you can see for miles on a good day.

Dermot T — Google review

Great place, beautiful scenery, superb house, great staff. Join the national trust at one of these houses as the money goes to the house. Dinefwr is definitely worth a visit, give yourself all day there's a lot to see.

Ian T — Google review

Loved it there, amazing views and nice walk around the woods. Also visited the NT House in the park, well worth a visit! Just be prepared for quite a steep climb uphill to the castle.

Absolutely stunning 😍 We have had the best day today walking up through the nature reserve to reach the castle 🏰 which our daughter has been desperate to visit! It was so beautiful and we were the only people there.. the views were breathtaking!! Definitely recommended!

Beautiful place to visit and have a walk around. Saw some lovely deer and sheep, had a walk up the castle and around the house and stopped at the cafe for food. Nice tasting food and not a big wait.

Spectacular views and gorgeous landscapes!!! All kitted out with safety railings, ect + well maintained and loomed after. Also a nice flat path up to it that's well maintained. Picnic benches nearby too.

LuckyDucky538 — Google review

Loved the areas surrounding the walk to Dinefwr Castle through the Deer park trail and then back through the woods after visiting the castle! My children loved exploring the small Ruins.

Kirsty J — Google review

Free to visit, the walk runs from the NT car park but there are other routes. The signage says no dogs inside but those signs were only visible after we had climbed up to the castle and everyone seemed to ignore the prohibition. Great views, some impressive battlements and well worth the trek. The staff at the NT car park were also lovely.

Chris G — Google review

A beautiful ruin in the heart of stunning countryside and ancient woodland. A wonderful walk takes you up to the castle. Situated at a brilliant strategic point, it gives stunning views in all directions. The walk wasn't challenging, but the incline and path surface may be difficult for some. There are no toilets at the castle itself, though some can be found at Newton House (National Trust). Dogs are fine ok to walk there, but there are grazing animals and deer in some of the surrounding parkland, so some areas may not welcome dogs and others will require them to be on leads.Well worth a visit.

Jonathan C — Google review

Nice day out house and castle ruins, the house is interesting and has a lovely garden to rest in overlooking the deer park. Also in the grounds is the ruins of Dinefwr Castle, but a bit of a steep walk to see it, but you are rewarded by the lovely views. You can walk through the deer park if you wish to.

What a great place to visit. Two attractions for the price of one. Newton House was dressed beautifully for the Season. It's a peaceful, calming house with great volunteers. The castle is certainly worth the stiff but short walk uphill to visit. The views of the flooded Tywi plain were spread out before us from the walls of the castle. Two towers and much of the walls are open and allow you to take in the fabulous views in all directions. We visited during a very wet December but were able to walk our 10,000 steps on great surfaced paths around the estate. Super place.

Set in amazing surroundings. A great day out for all the family. We went to their Christmas fair, very festive with plenty of food outlets and craft stalls. The staff were all very friendly and eager to help. Plenty to do with a castle a 20 minute walk away. Great well kept gardens including a fairy village. The only downside was waiting for a parking place but this was due to the amount of people visiting. Free for national trust members. Santa was available for the children at a small cost but they did get a gift. All in all a great time had by all.

Toby P — Google review

Wonderful place for a day out! The house is great and so is the castle. We did a great walk with the dogs too. I was amazed dogs were allowed in the house! Very cool, their first time in an NT house. They weren’t allowed in the castle so we just took turns.

Rachel O — Google review

A nice short walk through woods to get to the castle and a great place to visit for both adults and children. Only £5 to park too if not a Case or national trust member.

Nathan H — Google review

From the car park at Newton House its about a 1/2 mile walk to reach the castle. A mild incline awaits you but nothing too serious although those with mobility issues may struggle.Dinefwr Castle is not just a castle; it's a sentinel watching over the breathtaking landscape of Carmarthenshire from its commanding position atop a wooded hill. This historical gem offers a panoramic window into the rich tapestry of Welsh history, culture, and natural beauty. The origins of Dinefwr trace back to the 12th century, serving as a pivotal stronghold for the rulers of the ancient kingdom of Deheubarth. Walking through its ruins, you can almost hear the echoes of Welsh princes who once strategized within these walls, shaping the fate of a nation. But Dinefwr's charm doesn't stop at its historical significance. The castle ruins, with their crumbling walls and towers, offer a picturesque backdrop against the lush Welsh countryside. It's a perfect spot for history buffs, nature lovers, and photographers alike, offering moments of reflection, breathtaking views, and a deep connection to the past.

Castell Carreg Cennen is a castle with stunning views and historic significance, situated on a steep crag above the River Cennen. Originally built as a Welsh castle, it was reconstructed under Edward's rule in the late 13th century before being partially dismantled during the War of Roses in 1462. The castle now lies in ruins but remains an impressive sight visible from miles away.

Brilliant castle. I have been wanting to go for years and it did not disappoint. Great cafe by the entrance , stiff walk up a rocky hill.and s superbly located castle. Don't miss the tunnel and cave over the cliff down to the river and the view over the romantic Black mountain in the distance.

Peter M — Google review

One of the most interesting castles in Wales due to its prominent position and amazing views. Perched on the top of a hill with 360⁰ views around the surrounding valleys and mountains, its a place well worth visiting. There is a free car park which can get busy, then a footpath up to the castle. You walk through a farm which has a cafe, then up the hill where halfway is where you pay. Fortunately cards are accepted as well as cash. It's about an hour to visit and explore the castle and area, a little more time if you wish to venture down in to the cave below the castle.

Adrian T — Google review

Great castle high up on the mountain, with old walls still remaining down in the bowels of the castle still able to explore, but you'll need torchlight to go to the bottom, need good shoes as really slippery and uneven. Excellent views from the top of the surrounding countryside x Also an amazing restaurant over looking the mountain with a fully stocked bar (didnt use the restaurant this time) and a wonderful welsh gift shop. You can just visit the restaurant and gift shop, only have to pay for the castle x

Jackie D — Google review

The castle is simply epic. Amazing location and views across the countryside. Get there early when it’s quiet. The cave is also worth braving the dark for. Bring a torch and good shoes. The tearoom is very nice, tasty cakes, tea and coffee. Lovely staff too!

Nick B — Google review

Really really enjoyed visiting this castle for the first time since I was a child. Beautiful castle and surrounding countryside. Parking was good, plenty of space. Excellent facilities, great cafe and food. Could have spent a fortune in the gift shop, it was well stocked. All of the staff were super and really kind. Good for dogs on leads. Had a great day here. If you go down into the cave, be aware it is slippery in places. Can't wait to go back. Thank you for the extra coffee 👍🙂

Robert M — Google review

The castle is well worth a visit. The setting, views and general ambience are very special indeed. Recommend the Red Castle circular walking trail which starts at the castle and is a lovely walk through limestone country. Along the way you get to see Carreg Cennen from many angles so you appreciate it's strategic importance. The castle cafe and gift shop are definitely worth a visit. Good food!

Jane D — Google review

Nice walk around the castle, free car park, £6.50 entry for adults. Lots of sheep so careful if you have a dog. Lovely views, able to go into the castle cave underneath the castle. Nice visit. Also a cafe at the bottom of the hill with toilets. The car park gets locked at 6pm.

Clare G — Google review

We had this recommended to us (as a stand out from the many castles on Google Maps in the region) by a local. The castle ruins sit on top of a large limestone hill, and there's a tunnel running from inside the castle down into a very small cave. The cave is fairly difficult to get into (steep, original stop steps with limited railings), especially when it's wet.The cafe was lovely, with a log fire burning and fresh food.We went on a wet and windy day but you can see why the views are so good on a clear day!

Andrew F — Google review

Stunning castle set in the Brecon countryside. Views from the top are wonderful! Be mindful that the castle is set on a steep hill so access to this may not be ideal for those with mobility issues. The accompanying cafe and shop are a must 😊👌🏽

Rebecca R — Google review

Great views and amenities. The scones in the shop are delightful.Bring a torch for the cave, it's worth it, just watch your head! The small entry fee is definitely worth seeing the Castle. Plenty to see and stunning views too.

Matt D — Google review

Amazing place well worth a visit, starting with the lovely cafe and gift shop, the ladies were so lovely and happily talked with my boys then lets talk cake it was so good it was an emotional experience level good, rhubarb crumble cake warm with ice cream a must and inside the cafe is incredible to look at. Then best walking boots on up to a brilliant castle ruin with stunning views and a cave that has to be seen 5 stats not enough for this

Joel R — Google review

Lovely castle, there is a privately run cafe&shop there which were not overly amazed about. The CASTLE though is well worth a visit for 1hr + half, with hidden underneath cave tunnel.. The whole thing must have looked amazing in its day.

G. D — Google review

Incredible place to visit, fabulous views, historic. Bit of a climb but worth it. Great little cafe, delicious sandwiches.

Victoria H — Google review

Narrow twisty roads up to the farm and car park so care is needed. You buy your tickets in the shop before going through the gate and up the path, gets quite steep towards the top. Not really accessable for people with mobility issues. Once there, the views are breathtaking. Be adventurous and explore the cave too! We went to the tea rooms in their barn. Lovely cakes on offer and sensible prices.

Liz — Google review

It has two caves and a sheer cliff at one side!!🙀One cave in the castle (avoid if claustrophobic!) and the way you get there is verry cool; it’s accessed via a passage running down the inside of the wall which runs along the top of the sheer cliff, so each window looks out over this void. The other cave is on the outside. Leave the castle and head towards the ticket office, double back round to your left - below the castle, with the castle on your left - you’ll go over a wall and out onto the top of the hill. Look for the cave on your leftWell worth paying to get into the castle.

Tristram S — Google review

Fantastic Welsh castle and stunning scenery. I recommend the circular walk followed by some good quality food in the cafe. Staff lovely too. Diolch!

Jonathan G — Google review

One of my favorite Welsh castles. It was a rainy and windy day, with the black castle perched by itself on a rocky hill. That all made it extremely atmospheric as you approach. You can imagine filling some medieval noir like the 7th Seal here, or even Monty Python's Holy Grail.A highlight is the cave, which runs 50m under ground, and appears like it must have done 800 years ago. There's no lights or rails, so make sure you have a light and good grip on your shoes.Check out the Barn cafe which doubles as the Cadw ticket office as well.

Carreg Cennen Castle (Welsh: Castell Carreg Cennen) is a castle sited on a high rocky outcrop overlooking the River Cennen, close to the village of Trap, four miles south east of Llandeilo in Carmarthenshire, Wales.native Welsh castle, constructed by The Lord Rhys (d. 1197).

Hamilton H — Google review

I found this beautifully set Castle on the off chance by ending up in Ammanford and searching places to visit near by.Since I'd never visited, I thought it was the perfect way to work off the Christmas day turkey. The drive up was simple to follow on the sat nav and parking was great for the time of day I visited. 2.30pmParking is free but access to the Castle is 6.50 for adults unless you have a members card or are part of the armed forces. Blue light discount did not work.As you walk to the ticket office 3 quarters of the way up you go though a little farm yard. With a shop/ coffee shop and picnic area and then head up the hill towards the castle. There are plenty of opportunities to take some great photos of the views both from the car park level and at the summit where the castle is based. There are a few little areas you can go to explore and for those who are brave with heights a great photo are of the cliff face.Walking around the castle especially with our gorgeous Welsh weather, is advisable to have a pair of wellies or walking boots as you can get muddy, plus there's animal dropping dotted about from the sheep and rabbits. The castle itself has a hidden secret (more of that later). As you head towards the entrance, you can take the time to appreciate the stunning views it has to offer of the beautiful countryside. There is a small platform which leads to a drawbridge area. Once you have crossed that you are at the castle entrance.(This is gridded so sensible shoes are advised)There are several great places to explore once inside split over levels and the views again from different areas are great. There's a few stair cases so bare that in mind, but the Gem of this Castle for me was it's Cave intrance towards the far left from where you come in..Be prepared as this is steep as well as dark. once you get to the bottom of the steps, there is a walk way which is sheltered and takes you 50 meters or so down to another set of stairs. (This part is in total darkness, so a light of some kind is essential)There is an open space you come too which is followed immediately by the cave entrance. Watch your head as there are low points and watch your footing as it is very wet and also a heavily uneven surface all the way down. It also can be a little narrow as you walk down. For the explorer in me, it was definitely worth the further decent. But bare in mind you need to walk back up afterwards, so if going back upstairs is a challenge, I'd take your time.I suffer with a slipped disc, and it hurt afterwards.Bare in mind though as you explore the car parks closing times. I think it closes around the 4.30 point so give yourself plenty of time to explore and for the walks upto and from the castle. Maybe even eating time as there are one or two benches in there to sit.I would 100% visit again and be better prepared as I didn't know about the cave and my phone died, so I tagged along with someone kind enough to lead the way through the dark.Lovely afternoon out.

Christopher J — Google review

Ruins of a mainly 13th / 14th century castle. Well kept and preserved. Very accessible with a car park and a short but fairly steep walk to the castle itself. Entrance is free for CADW members but there is a charge for others. There is an excellent café by the car park where you can buy anything from coffee and tea to a full meal, as well as maps, booklets and souvenirs. An excellent visit despite the rather narrow and windy road to get there

Martin T — Google review

There's a good sized car park (free - donation suggested) just by the ticket office and cafe, and I'll have to come back and try out the food and drink - the cafe is gorgeous! The castle itself is interesting enough, but its most amazing and unique feature is the cave below. Wear good shoes and take a torch - it's well worth a visit! There are apparently a bunch of other caves outside the Castle in the rock it stands on, but I haven't explored them yet. Next mission! 😁

Deedee D — Google review

This is certainly a step back in history. Wonderful location and views. Be carefully when you take the steps down into the cave..

Restored historic mill exploring the Welsh wool industry via hands-on displays & a textile gallery.

Excellent family attraction. See working machines from the past and volunteers demonstrating how things used to be done. Very interesting and plenty of participation for kids. Donation only no charge

The museum was very interesting with lots of machinery and local history. We enjoyed seeing everything and had tea, coffee and wonderful cakes in the cafe afterwards. The museum shop had many colourful things to buy. The toilets were exceptionally clean and well looked after. Dogs are allowed in the grounds but not indoors. It is free to visit but you need to book your tickets online before you go.

Former wool factory, converted into a great museum displaying the whole journey of wool, from animal to garment. Really interesting and well worth a visit. Ample parking. The cafe offers a range of tasty treats. Staff are friendly and helpful.

Interesting history of Welsh Mills. Well laid out and current fabulous knitting exhibition. But, no machines working which would enhance the visitor experience

Steve M — Google review

Great museum telling the story of wool processing, lovely to see most if the staff crafting on the job, knitting and crochet... there were volunteers spinning too. Well worth a visit, nice small shop and great friendly cafe. Look out for the kids activities there is a great little book for them to fill in and a card of activity moments. Nice garden full of plants that can be used for natural dying. Lovely picnic area, water wheel, leat system. The village has some super walks look out for the leaflet with the maps of the routes.

Marianne S — Google review

Interesting museum. Enjoyed the machines accessible place.Would of liked yarn products that have had been produced in the place in the shop.We tried to order soup they'd ran out but then said to us we should of called ahead to order soup ! Not really something you would plan to do when visiting a museum

Katherine B — Google review

Top marks for this quaint, yet important museum highlighting the way of life of so many. It's all free entry too. Has a reasonably sized cafe, small shop and good parking.Ok, I have to declare an interest (I have a loom & weave, though not on this scale), but actually, the story of processing wool and the story of those involved was well set out in both Welsh and English.Sadly the machines were not being turned on to show them working and hear/feel the noise (my visit was Tues early Jan 23), so I'm not overly surprised, but there are plenty of information boards and videos to help tell the story. Check opening times (google etc) before you set off.. they don't open every day!The cafe serves basic but good food with some gluten free options. Space for a picnic outside in more clement weather.Except for guide dogs, dogs are not permitted inside the museum.Worth a return visit? Yes ... I definitely fancy another look.

David R — Google review

It's free entry. The staff is really professional and helpful. It has lots of good products. The coffee shop is just beside the show room.

Really informative and interactive! Great for all age groups. Also I had a go at the spinning Jenny! X Tea cake and tea too. X Free entry.

Jeanette A — Google review

This was excellent, with much to interest and educate children as well as adults. It was great to see the machinery and the working factory. The café was excellent also, and the staff were great. We'll worth a visit, and although free to visit, a donation to help keep this place open could not be denied. Good free parking too.

Alan N — Google review

Update, it's taken a long time but I have been making a shawl out of the weaving ends. Picture below :)As I arrived there were gardens by the car park with plants good for dying wool. There was lots to see the museum with working machinery for preparing, spinning and weaving the wool. A nice selection of garments and other items made in the mill. Lots on the history and culture of the mill and Welsh garment making. Well worth a visit.

Sandra T — Google review

Been looking for wool fabric as I enjoy wool applique, and it has been difficult finding wool fabric. Very helpful, now to go home and felt it all up. Did not go thru museum as had limited time.

Spent a very happy couple of hours exploring this fascinating museum. Well laid out, very helpful, knowledgeable staff (absolutely lovely to watch and talk to a lovely young man spinning at a spinning wheel), and with lots of information boards, photographs and more. Really brought the history of woollen mills in Wales alive.

National Trust - Dolaucothi offers a unique experience with its Roman gold mines, providing guided underground tours and the opportunity for hands-on gold panning. The site is dog-friendly and offers a variety of tours, including those focused on Roman history. Visitors can explore the upper levels of the mine and learn about mining from passionate and knowledgeable staff. Additionally, the surrounding area offers lovely walks in a tranquil natural setting, making it an ideal destination for history enthusiasts and nature lovers alike.

It was a proper wet and snowy day so we decided to book on the mine tour. We were tempted by the Showcaves but they were £20 pp, whereas the mines were free for NT Members. They even have a dog friendly tour which was sadly fully booked but the rain made it so the dogs were okay in the car.Nevil was a great tour guide, we found it super interesting and very fun! We even saw a bat!! Would definitely recommend as a great day out come rain or shine!

Lovely walks around the area. Quiet and tranquil. The beauty of Nature can be seen here.

Jazmine — Google review

Lovely site, very rural site! Lovely space, the history is well presented both on the tour by the guide and on the information boards.Recommend going, though what you see inside the mine is very limited. Lovely walk, beautiful views...quite a number of steps up so bear that in mind, some steps but more of a slope going down. A few in our tour of 11 people used walking poles to help.Nice visitors lounge area with activity table for small children and good indoor space for those who perhaps would find the walk to the mine a bit too difficult.Toilet facilities available and clean, but no cafe, small souvenirs available in the entrance building.Gold panning fun, but sadly no real gold found! 😂

Finally got the chance to go on the gold mine tour it was amazing I really enjoyed the experience the tour guides are very knowledgeable very friendly. The place itself is an amazing place of history going back thousands of years in mining I can't wait to visit again all I can say is don't miss this wonderful opportunity to visit and get the a guided tour. See you again real soon. 😁

Interesting and fun. We spent an hour panning for gold. I can now understand the term "Gold Fever"! Beautiful area. Picnic tables, no cafe. Wear proper footwear (enclosed, no sandals) and be prepared for hiking up and downhill.

Tana C — Google review

We visited Dolaucothi one sunny afternoon in May, after finding it on the National Trust app. The entry process was easy, but it is highly recommended to pre-book in advance as groups are only small and they only run a limited number of tours each day they are open. The site itself is very well kept, with lots of nicely displayed information and it also included a small, well organised museum. After we were fitted with our hardhats, we started on the tour exploring the history of gold mining in the local area. The tour was around 1 hour, and it was truly fascinating. As well as finding out all about the history of the area dating all the way back to the Romans, you were able to venture into the mine and stand where they had once mined for gold centuries ago.The tour guide was very knowledgeable, and overall, the entire experience was very good value. If you’re looking for something a little unusual to do over a weekend, you shouldn’t miss a trip to Dolaucothi.

Joel P — Google review

Interesting visit with very knowledgeable guide. Different tours about separate parts of the history. We went for the Roman one. We will back for another tour the next time we are up.

Tour was great we just wished there was more availability in other days. Our tour guide was amazing her name began with an A I think but can’t quite remember.

We were having quite a bad rainy day, didn't find what we wanted to find, well it wasn't a great day.We booked a guided tour to the mine because we weren't far and wanted to give it a try. And boy did it be worth it.Nevil was as fun as instructive, we learnt many things about mining which we didn't know, and we went to explore the upper levels of the mine. He's passionate just like every National Trust staff we met, and it was a really good experience !

Mathis G — Google review

This is a lovely place to visit, the staff were very friendly and informative. The guide very knowledgeable and the tour was a lovely walk too highlighted with the trip down the gold mine. Highly recommend

Karl T — Google review

We loved it. Who does not like looking for gold. It's a tour only place which is lots of fun. Small amount of underground cave to explore. I really wish they would have also showed us some more of the caves arround/on the walk... I think that would have made it. But overall it was a great experience. Fun panning for fools gold with the kids. And seeing round the site. Good place to bring a picnic to as there is no cafe.

Tim B — Google review

If you’re into Roman history then Dolaucothi mine is well worth a visit but be sure to book. The mine is run by the National Trust and the tours are free for members. The Roman tour takes you from the visitors centre (which itself is situated in a massive Roman open cast mine) up to the top of the hill where there is evidence of Roman cast and drift mining. The staff are very friendly and extremely knowledgeable. This is a great experience for the young aspiring archaeologists (children 8 to 80) although the terrain isn’t suitable for those with mobility issues. There are other tours for those unable to tackle the inclines..Dolaucothi really fires the imagination.

Warren S — Google review

Took the tour of the roman gold mine today. Phil the guide was amazing. Learnt so much. Dogs allowed, not too many refreshments on site. Also make sure you book the tickets for the tours in advance as numbers are limited. And now I know what the Romans did for us!

Andrew S — Google review

Very interesting if you like mining or want to learn about it. On the other hand, that is all that there is other than a small museum with artifacts and mine plans not much else. Although there are facilities to make a hot drink in a paper cup there isn't a café and also no eateries in the general area. We had to drive more than 15 miles just to find an open café as although there were pubs that we passed they we all closed on a Wednesday lunchtime.

Love the Elan Valley Dams, heartbreaking views all around, at the moment is perfect time to visit them, because no season, and can access parking space.

Marika M — Google review

Lots of dams and reservoirs to see on different levels of the valley. Great for either long walks, or if your lazy like us nice car rides with great views.

Andrew T — Google review

What a spot. We stopped here on our way back to Bristol from Snowdonia. Will definitely be back with the dog and there’s great walks around the reservoirs

Catherine H — Google review

It's an amazing place to visit... beautiful sceneries...!

The views are breathtaking! The walks are well signposted and are of varying degrees of difficulty. We’re already planning returning before the end of summer.

Amazing scenery, great for hiking, cycling or u can drive them. Visitor centre hs lovely cafe cheep parking

Leonie — Google review

Fabulous place to visit, super friendly staff in the cafe and shop and a lovely welcoming atmosphere. The reservoir is outstanding, we were there when there was snow on the ground and it was bone chillingly cold but it was worth navigating the steps for the view from the top. Going down was challenging given the conditions and the crossing the bridge saw my husband and I doing an impression of Torville and Dean given it was thick ice and there was no salt down so care had to be taken. The walks were lovely and well sign posted. We cut our visit short due to the cold but will most certainly be back in the spring to see more of this incredible place.

Alison U — Google review

Great views, it would be good to visit after some heavy rain and see the cascading water.

Dave F — Google review

parking is easy the elan valley goes on for miles means you have a long walk which ever way you choose to go you can see the dam and the views of the mountains and hills in the distance make it picturesque so bring your camera and spare battery well worth a visit

Paul B — Google review

Quite a few reservoirs in a distance of a few miles. Surrounded by the beautiful Welsh nature. A great choice for a day trip driving through the mid Welsh countryside. The forests, the waters, the animals (which you will sometimes literally find walking down the roads) are simply great. Highly recommended. (PS: The dams won't always have the waters running down them, making the view somewhat less spectacular)

Zoos

Educational zoo with a varied collection of formerly unwanted captive animals and pets.

Had a lovely Saturday out, was lovely to see the animals. I adored seeing the rabbits and goats. Very polite goats, even my friend who was nervous of them, was able to build the courage to feed them. We also met some lovely, ducks in the most lovely green iridescence. We arrived just as the meet and greet in the barn started. Was a lovely experience, my friend got to hold the hairiest guinea pig I’ve ever met; he looks like a little rockstar.I like the option to feed the animals is fresh veggies and not pellets. Staff were also clear on what we could and couldn’t feed.Staff were friendly and I enjoyed hearing about the wolf-dogs.

Lovely little animal park. Small and seems to be family run. Cafe reasonably priced and a little petting area at scheduled times. Felt a bit sorry for the foxes and wolves but I'm always rubbish at coping when I see animals in cages, it is what it is in places like this I guess. Animals seemed well cared for and the staff were really friendly. Only gripe is seeing them smoke in the cafe area. I don't think that's appropriate. Last thing I want to see is an ashtray and people smoking. I don't think smoking should be allowed anywhere within the parameters of the park full stop. It's 2022. Smoking is a no-no.

Jenny G — Google review

Wonderful place. Lovely animals. Helpful staff. If you put less than 5 stars you should be ashamed of yourself as the place is truly wonderful and staff work very hard there to 365 days a year to look after those who became "unwanted". Also if you think that £9 is too much to pay per person, stay at home and watch tv you penny pincher.Loved it! Thank you very much. Me & the dog will be returning.

Victoria R — Google review

Don't park at the first section you see for parking, go around the corner and park there, just that little pit closer. Was hoping to spend a few hours entertaining the clan.£8 for adults and £6 for kids. Then a pound a pot for animal food. Which is basically lettuce and carrot sticks. You can walk around it in about 40 mins, so taking out time it took us about an hour. The petting section isn't always open and welcoming, they were cleaning when we came in and we were not able to hold anything sadly. Many of the animals are just farm animals so don't expect too much. For what you see, it is a little pricey.Feels a little run down too.The kids play area are not that large. Luckily it was quiet when we went. All in all, not too bad, but you could just take your own carrots for the animals, there is a pet store not far for bird seed too I guess. As you can tell, I'd look to save as much as I can because of the price of entry feels a little steep for what you get to see.Enjoy.

This lovely place is recovering from the effects of the pandemic but they have some very cute animals! Definitely worth a visit 😊

Kevin L — Google review

I used to visit the Animalarium and it WAS a lovely day out. It is now one hamster short of a nest to call it a zoo, unless you think the Big Five are: rabbits, hamsters, a rat, goats and ducks. The staff are lovely, yes, and we had a jolly nice cup of tea, but when the website is the best part of the visit then I'd think seriously about visiting. I should have known when the main picture on the website is of a cat.The place was run down and looks forgotten. The play area was chipped and broken. Posts were falling down, the pens were overgrown and shoddy and the whole place needs a lick of paint. No wonder the animals used to escape.

Susie P — Google review

Staff very friendly as was resident cat. Great mug of tea too.

Bev D — Google review

Very poor. There were perhaps a dozen animals at most. The only "exotic" animals were the wolf dogs. The place looked a mess and most of the enclosures were closed for renovation. If I had gone by myself, it would have taken not much more than 5 minutes to go round it. The only reason I have given it 2 stars instead of 1, is that my daughter didn't seem to notice the shortcomings and enjoyed feeding the goats. Visit was on 29/7/21.

Gareth J — Google review

Fantastic place love visiting again and again. Lovely staff very informative and educational. Our Autistic son is so happy there. Keep up the amazing work

Rhiannon V — Google review

We decided to visit as we were on holiday for a few days. Our daughter enjoyed herself feeding and petting the animals.Overall a pleasant way to spend a couple and realistically entry fee not that expensive. The cafe served good food which was also reasonably priced.I would recommend a visit if you have children .

TJK 1 — Google review

Nice place to take your children and and get up close to the animals and enjoy petting and feeding them a good day had by all

Alicia B — Google review

Awe it was brilliant, all who worked there was very friendly, loved seeing the animals, was so lovely we was allowed to take the dog in too, would recommend to anyone, it's only £8 an adult to get in and £1 a cup of food for the animals, its great as they obviously need the money to keep the animals. Was a lovely day.

Wendy R — Google review

Lovely family run business with loads of animals to see. Really good entrance fee, they also serve food and drink. The owner Dean was really friendly. Definitely would return

Lovely little park located in a lovely village. We came with our three teenagers and labrador and had a brilliant afternoon. Staff were all amazingly friendly made a three hour drive from Birmingham very enjoyable

Lovely afternoon out even in the rain! Visited with 2x under 5's who loved the food pots. Staff were so friendly and welcoming. Some lovely half term Halloween bits set up for the kids to enjoy and the animals were all very friendly. We enjoyed meeting Twilight, Hamish and Nimbus in the petting zoo too.

Kate V — Google review

Had a lovely morning here with the kids aged 3 & 7! We loved it & all of the animals! First time we have been there, we got to stroke a few of the animals that one of the keepers brought out to show us which was lovely! We bought lots of pots of food to feed all the animals with & we enjoyed doing that more than the kids did! Staff are lovely and chatty with the visitors, I'm definitely coming back here next time I'm in Aberystwyth as it stood out as one of the best things we've done whilst here, was a big hit with them & us! ☺️

Renay A — Google review

This place is a hidden gem and doesn't cost a fortune to get in. We were on holiday down this part of Borth and wanted to find a family day out experience in the area for us and the kids to do, which was dog friendly as we had our dog with us. This place had all of the above and more! Lots of animals for the kids to see and interact with. No need to pre book, plenty of free parking around the place and dog friendly which was great for us. There is a cafe and small shop, serving tea, coffee, cold drinks, cakes and ice cream. They also offer feeding tubs for the animals on entry, which all the kids and us grown ups enjoyed doing. Well worth the visit.

Laura T — Google review

This place was an absolute Gem to stumble upon. I loved the time I spent here with the animals... I got to feed and pet them, it was a real treat. If your in the area then definitely pop in, especially if you have kids they would really enjoy themselves.

Dean E — Google review

The animals are well cared for, nice little time spent to pet rabbits, rats, guinea pigs. Other animals include birds, ducks, chickens, peaco*cks, goats, tortoises, horse, sheep, pigs, wolves and foxes can be seen. Little play park and nice little cafe selling food and drinks. Little gift shop on site.Play equipment was a little run down however didn’t stop my little boy enjoying himself! If your in borth please go and support them , reasonably priced. Could spend few hours there if having lunch there etc. Thank you animalarium 😀

Jenny J — Google review

This is something of a local institution so I'd wanted to stick my head in for a while. I think some folks expect a Welsh version of Jurassic Park for £8 situated in sleepy Borth! There were many varieties of pigs, chickens and rabbits that were new to me and the wolfdogs were an added bonus.Yes there are a few rough edges but at £8 a head on a chilly New Year's Day what do you expect? Staff are helpful and clearly work hard.I think they are missing a trick keeping the reptile bit closed most of the year but I'm sure there's a good reason.Overall one of the best £8 you can spend these days.

The Red Kite Feeding Station at Gigrin Farm in Rhayader, Mid Wales offers a captivating experience for visitors. This family-run farm hosts daily feeding sessions where hundreds of majestic Red Kites swoop down to feed, creating a magnificent spectacle. Visitors can observe this breathtaking sight from open fields or viewing hides located just meters away from the action. The farm also provides specialist photographic hides for photography enthusiasts.

One of the best afternoons out ever! Booked a photographers hide and managed to get some epic shots of the red kites. You get to see hundreds of red kites metres away from you. Everyone is so welcoming and accommodating at the farm. Its well kept and the cafe is wonderful. I spent almost 2 hours in the hide enjoying all the birds. Worth every penny! I hope to be back again in the future

Samuel H — Google review

This was such a cool experience, seeing so many kits lunging from the sky at the food. We got some cake and coffee from the coffee shop and sat and watched them for a good 30 min, they still fly about even after that. Toilets were okish and parking is provided with your ticket. We paid just before we entered. You gotta be there 5 mins before the feeding time and you would have to be quiet during feeding as to not disturb the kites. We also saw 2 cute donkeys on out way who loved some pets and were friendly!

Zahra J — Google review

Magnificent. Stunning. Mind-blowing.Book a place in a hide, and make sure you have plenty of battery and storage space in your phone or camera. You'll never have another experience like this. Believe the hype.Blue badge holders are allowed to drive right up to the hides. Staff are all friendly, helpful and welcoming, especially the blue-haired young lady who sold us cake.Well worth the money, and the time.

Fox V — Google review

Excellent experience, we went in hide 1 and was great to see the red kites feeding. Need to have some patience to wait but once the crows come down then the red kites will swoop in for the food. Lovely site with very friendly staff. Gift shop was lovely with beautiful items and pictures. You can also have a cup of tea and cake and sit outside. Kids loved also seeing the donkey, the cats and the dog on site also.

S ( — Google review

A wonderful experience. You get up close to these versatile birds and see them in large numbers coming to feed. You are courteously greeted at the entrance. Well stocked gift shop. Cafe too. Take your time. Arrive around 2pm, relax and watch the kites reeling around waiting for their 3pm feed. The hides are good and they have a strict maximum number policy so no crowds.

Anthony L — Google review

Brilliant experience, well worth the very cheap entry fee. All the staff were welcoming and knowledgeable. The hides were well maintained and they made sure to not overcrowd them.Unfortunately someone walked off the trail straight into the feeding area, it was reported and staff dealt with it immediately. This did scare off the kites for a while, but patience paid off and we witnessed the remarkable!Just visit, if you’re reading you’re already interested. You wont need binoculars they get that close!

Laurie S — Google review

Even if you are not really into nature and birds, you will find this extremely interesting!Amazing g the work that they do here and managed to build the numbers up from near extinction to the amazing display of so many Kites in the photos and videos here.

Tom — Google review

A brilliant experience to see hundreds of red kites feed. Cafe/shop with great selection of cakes and gifts.

David L — Google review

A ‘must-do’ if you are in the area with an afternoon spare. It is quite an incredible sight to witness as the daily feeding starts and these magnificent birds gradually circle in from all directions. We were fascinated watching their caution and their social rules they seemed to follow as the birds grew in number circling in the air. We paid to sit in one of the hides but the experience would have been equally amazing just sitting on the hill watching the birds fly in.The tea shop offered Red Kite and nature themed collections as well as ice creams and delicious cakes. We booked ahead the morning we visited and arrived at around 2pm and had tea and cake. Feeding is at 3pm daily during summer time or 2pm winter time. We watched the birds for well over an hour from the hide then took advantage of a way-marked 1.5 mile walk up the hill for fabulous views of Rhyader and the surrounding countryside, then back down through a lovely wooded area alongside a small brook. Many birds were still circling at 5pm when we left.

Paul W — Google review

Staff are very friendly and welcoming. Lovely coffee shop and gift shop. The hides were great, not over crowded and really close to the action! The Red Kites were fed at 3 o'clock but were circling hours before and the trees were full of them. When the food was driven in literally hundreds of Kites were dropping out of the air, it was just awesome. We used canon R6 and R7 with 200-500 lens and took an 800 but I found the crop was tight as they were much closer than expected! They drop in so fast and don't really land so you have to be quick. I gave up and just watched the aerial acrobatics instead. They hung around even after the food was gone so plenty of time to watch and take photos. The farm is in a beautiful setting with limited parking so it's best to book in advance. They have toilet facilities and picnic benches and also a viewing field. An all round amazing experience for birders and nature lovers! We are definitely going back in the spring/summer as although it was dry it was very grey and chilly and a bit of sun would make for better photos. A really wonderful day!

Sallyanne R — Google review

If your a nature Lover, this is a wonderful opportunity to get close to hundreds of Red Kites and two Donkeys. The Farm is easily accessible and there is a coffee shop there to. We took a Picknick that didn't seem to be a problem. The staff are also very helpful. It is a very uplifting experience being able to witness these majestic Birds.

Bagpuss — Google review

If you are even mildly interested in birds of prey then this is a must see spectacle. The anticipation builds as the birds begin to circle close to 3pm and then once the feeding begins it's hard to keep up with the number of birds then drop down. We stayed for around 30 minutes after the feeding has finished and found it easier to follow individual birds. Wonderful experience and the shop has some nice gifts too. One of our holiday highlights.

Irene H — Google review

The whole family loved it, unbelievable just how many wild red kites came once the feeding commenced, plenty of room and the coffee shop is amazing with gifts, delicious coffee, their are toilets on site along with a campsite. Fun for all the family whatever ages. We ranged from 7 to 78 years young.

Daniel A — Google review

We enjoyed our visit to see the Kites yesterday. It was dull but the rain held off. It took the Kites around an hour to start feeding and they seemed very watchful but we were told they’d been buzzed by a helicopter the previous day and it may have upset them. Definitely worth a visit to see these magnificent birds!

Jane P — Google review

Very friendly staff and helpful, nice gift shop and tearoom, at feeding a lot of red kites, maybe a couple of hundred

Martin D — Google review

Absolutely incredible. This has to be one of our favourite afternoons out ever. To be able to have seen one red kite close up would have been incredible but to see hundreds of them and so close up feeding from one of the hides was such a special experience and made us pretty emotional. We were even allowed to take our dog with us which was even better. The owner and staff are so friendly also and there is a lovely cafe, gift shop, picnic benches and toilets also. There are other animals around including the lovely couple of donkeys. Plus there is a lovely walk there to do which has fabulous scenery. The only thing we wish was that it was open for longer as we would have liked to spend longer there chilling out and taking in the gorgeous scenery. Absolutely fantastic place.Kathy, Mark & Trigger (the greyhound)

Kathy C — Google review

We had such a great time watching the red kites feeding. It is 100% worth the journey and the money. The shop is expensive but the business is completely reliant on the money it receives from entrance and souvenir fees. Will definitely return and bring more people next time, the birds are beautiful ❤️

A great place to have tea, coffee and food while enjoying a nice view over Llanbedrog. The art gallery is an inspiring place to visit after visiting Wales because some of the artists will give you a different outlook of your holidays and the places you have visited. Well worth the visit every year.

I’m a local resident, and this is one of my favourite places to go for lunch and a walk - the food may be pricey for a lunch menu, but it’s excellent presentation and a plate full of local produce make up for it! You get what you pay for basically. The cakes are delicious - SO MUCH CHOICE! I had the summer fruits crumble… mouth watering! Best crumble I’ve had in a long time! A lovely thick layer of crumble, with a gooey bottom and plenty of fruit!

Amazing art gallery and cafe, with stunning views. Small car park. Hills behind with nice but steep-ish climbing forest walks.

A welcome find on our coastal path walk. Gorgeous old house with picnic benches in the grounds. Proper homemade cakes, great drinks and a fabulous gift shop selling all local art and gifts. Couldnt resist a couple of purchases and in doing so the lovely staff spotted our t-shirts and made a donation too! Made our lovely stop there all the more lovely by the people we met. Thank you.

Seems to be a nice cafe, clean and what seems a good menu. In the ££ price range. I had a cappuccino cost £3.25!When I visited it was very busy.Toilet/disabled inside. No dogs allowed. Automatic door and suitable for wheelchair access.I've given 3 stars as I was looking forward to the experience of the cafe, that looks so artistic from outside. Unfortunately no welcome or smile from the lady serving the till or the waitress to my table. I felt in the way and i moved to a side stool to finish my coffee and leave.I will not be returning. A smile of welcome costs nothing but can make an experience a good one.

The grounds and house were stunning. The gallery itself had some amazing artwork which could also be purchased.Food was also available from a cafe with plenty of seating areas inside and out.

Beautiful little café with an amazing selection of cakes, including a huge slice of syrup-rich flapjack. From the temporary first-floor location you've got a stunning view of the bay and you're surrounded by some very distinctive paintings for sale. The house itself is one big art gallery, in a delightful wood with a number of walks though we didn't get to try any of them out. Didn't manage to find out if there was a path down to the beach either.Parking is free for the first 90 minutes or a mere £1.50 for 3 hours.

Paul C — Google review

Plas Glyn y Weddw Gallery is a magnificent art gallery with regular superbly curated exhibitions, a wonderful woodland walk with spectacular sea views and a cafe that serves an excellent selection of freshly cooked food made and served by a friendly, professional and efficient team. The iconic cafe that is a sculpted urchin shaped structure is the best building that I have ever seen. Also special mention on the recent Warning Notes outside sound sculpture exhibition that was out of this world! A rich and powerful soundscape that gave voice to the current social and ecological alarm that ripples across our world. Truly the most inspiring, powerful and memorable art exhibition that I have ever visited!

Glen J — Google review

Gosh this place is wonderful. The house is stunning and the art really interesting, the beach view is just magnificent, and the three cakes we ate were genuinely the best I’ve ever tasted (I’m 35 and I’ve had a lot of cake in my time.) I’d give it six stars if I could. And the parking is free!

Beautiful place, gorgeous building full of delights to purchase plus other items of interest, including this years Eisteddfod Chair, beautifully carved from local oak from Y Lôn Goed. Superb cafe serving delicious dishes & fantastic coffee in a fab setting. 2 hrs free parking, grounds dog friendly but gallery not. Fully accessible.

Babs H — Google review

Free! It's a totally gorgeous building and the gardens are lovely. It was a delicious mix of history, crafts, art. Welcoming and relaxed in vibe. The cafe has a great menu and there's a sofa pointed at the log burner on the way in - that was very comfy.

Phil L — Google review

Such a local gem, but also a national treasure. The gallery has evolved and improved over the years. Now, you'd be foolish to not walk along and up to the 'Iron man', have lunch at the café and of course take in the art. Much of the art is Welsh themed, coastal at that, but not over priced. Fill up your lounge with this curated Welsh art and impress any pretentious or simply artistic friends. Another simple way to support the place is to join 'the friends'.. an easy way to stay connected.

Barmouth Beach is a sandy beach located in the town of Barmouth, Wales. It's perfect for swimming and basking in the sun, and it's surrounded by charming shops and restaurants. Traeth Abermaw Beach is also great for walking at low tide, as it leads all the way to Harlech Beach.

Amazing beach. Clear waters ,soft sand, plenty if parking. Lacking in toilets. The scenery behind the beach with hills as a back drop was amazing. Loved the fact it was not overcrowded at all. Could do with a few more bins.Would definitely go again.

Imino1Donmega — Google review

A pretty clean beach. It has quiet good parking though get there early as does get busy. It has stones on the top part of the beach, the beautiful soft sand on the shoreline. There are the usual seaside shops with fish and chips. Plus a little train for a tour if your legs are hurting after the shopping. A lovely place to spend the day, weekend or even holiday. Just need the great British weather.

Visiting this beautiful part of Wales we took a 30 minute drive to this beach. Stunning drive to Barmouth and look so inticing as we entered the town. Mike's of open beach, golden sands. Parking was easy and very well priced. The town is lovely, kids funfair, arcades, ice cream ,sand dunes and best of all...it's not crowded and loads of space. The sea was out but accessible. Clear water and not too cold. My daughter loved it.The beauty is in the scenery. Almost surrounded by hills, mountains and ridges... colourful buildings and traditional Welsh stone buildings. So much colour and green. Church bells ringing and we had extremely sunny day. It was just about perfect.Clean, space, sea, mountains and a friendly but not over-crowded town..all in walking distances . I certainly won't forget how beautiful this area was on our visit.

A personal favourite - lovely long sandy beach for a nice walk, along a beautiful small town. Great fish and chips nearby as well as plenty of parking as long as you get there early enough. I usually set off from Birmingham around 7-8 am and get here in 2.5 hours.

Pretty good beach. It wasn't too busy when we went on a Saturday in mid-May. Looked clean, and had pletty of parking and benches to make use of if you didn't want to go onto the sand. The opposite side does have a few eateries, with a few more located just away from the actual beach.

Nayan P — Google review

A lovely sandy beach with a nice little town with plenty of places to eat and shops to browse around this really is where the mountains meet the sea! Big spacious car park right on the beach front with plenty of spaces however I can imagine that this still gets very busy in the height of the summer. My only negative to say would be the dog ban on the main area of the beach which takes the best central part of the beach away from dog owners in the summer. There are still dog friendly areas to the right and left of this central area which are still very nice but they can get overcrowded as the space is smaller than the central area.

Dan R — Google review

We stopped here on a whim after travelling down from Porthmadog through to Aberystwyth. Amazing little place. The beach is really nice, clean, tidy and great for hunting for stones as we did with my son. Tide was out and made a great little costal walk.We then hit the amusem*nts spending £40 In total across 3 hours. One of the best RTP I ever encountered in any amusem*nts. 2000 tickets we managed to get Alot of things for my son as these were all reasonably priced.Sizzlers grill I think it was called... amazing food beautiful donuts and so so reasonably priced. I had steak and chips,Mrs had a burger and chips and my son chicken nuggets and chips served in a bucket with a spade. All came with a drink and generous portions, cooked fresh. 4 donuts were our pudding and all for £23. Normally food is extortionate at seaside towns but this one wasn't.Thoroughly enjoyed the day. Car parking was pay and display and I think we paid £4 for 3 hours. Plenty of spaces. Would definitely return!

One of the best beaches I've been onto in ages. Perfectly sandy, absolutely beautiful scenery, and nice and spacious for those busy times in the Summer. It takes about 3-5 minutes at least to walk from the promenade down to the water's edge over sand, but it's well worth it.

Amazing beach. Areas for people with dogs and areas dog free. The town is lovely with plenty of shops, but it was the beach itself that is the best bit. Shallow and clean enough for hours of paddling with the kids. Will definitely be returning.

Chris M — Google review

Wow - what a stunning beach!! Beautiful. Expect to pay £5.50 for a day's parking. There's not much in the town - a few seaside 'tat' shops, though some of the tea-rooms are worth a visit. Worth a visit for the beach if the weather is good, otherwise....

Beautiful beach no matter the weather, always picturesque. Great place to go for a walk, nice long walkable area. Good access with a massive car park directly opposite, loads of places to eat and drink close by.

C J — Google review

Lovely seaside town, plenty of shops and places to eat.A beautiful beach.Plenty of parking.

Lovely Welsh seaside resort, great for young and old alike. It has 2 main car parks fairly large. Highly recommended for holiday. B&Bs nearby. If you are coming for a day out, I recommend you leave quite early about a 2 -2 1/2 hour drive from West Midlands, depending on where you live. Car parks fill up very quickly on sunny days. Recommended you leave at 7:30am. or earlier if you want a good space. It is pay and display at a machine prices reasonable

King Arthur's Labyrinth, located in Corris, Wales, was awarded the best visitor attraction in mid Wales. Visitors embark on a boat ride through an underground waterfall into a mythical world based on the sixth level of Braich Goch slate mine. Led by a boatman, guests navigate through torch-lit tunnels and huge caverns while being immersed in ancient Welsh legends and tales of King Arthur. The experience is described as an old-fashioned storytelling adventure intertwined with myths and legends.

We just turned up and waited 10 mins to go on the boat tour. After this we did lunch then candle dipping(not available for under 5's). The chocolate workshops weren't running but we enjoyed wandering round the shops finding quickly little gifts and a very nice bottle of gin. The older children loved it and the toddler wasn't too sure in the dark but enjoyed the lit up caves. Take a coat as it gets chilly and a little drippy in the caves. A very good afternoon out.

Love love love this place. It's always foggy and damp when we go.Read the website carefully, when it says, it'll be cold, it means it!!The tour is great although we could have done with some help with some of the head protection in our group. The tour itself is great and gives a completely different story to what you know. The shops are pretty and the cafe on site is good, of recommend the steak bake!Definitely wear a jumper, scarf and waterproof cost though, it is very chilly underground.

Stuart C — Google review

Lovely visit, nice little boat trip, the staff were lovely with my Nan who is less abled on her feet getting on and off of the boat. This was a fun experience to learn about King Arthur. Worth the visit. The staff in the shop were also super friendly

Nicole B — Google review

Excellent trip out for the family. We really loved the labyrinth although as others have noted, definitely colder inside. Shops around it are fun and the café really good.

Paul M — Google review

It's a fun hour or so to pass with the kids. We enjoyed it, the story was interesting enough to keep the kids entertained. I'd say it's OK for kids under 9 as I think older kids might get a bit bored. It's not scary, there's just a couple of bits that might make you jump. The scenery in the cave is a little dated.

Sarah ( — Google review

I've been a couple of time and have really enjoyed my visit both times. Love the story as you're lead through the labyrinth, and really felt immersed in the history. We also did the myths maze, which was great fun and a fabulous way to spend an afternoon exploring! Would definitely recommend :)

Emily N — Google review

Another unplanned stop whilst driving around the West Coast of Wales - and we are glad we did stop. So many little areas of engagement within the complex for arts and craft, caves, and a maze. Due to time constraints we could only fit in the maze which for me was a headache but we have some brainboxes in the group that were able to decipher the clues and we call came away with medals! Also the ice cream is amazing!

G S — Google review

Beautiful place and a great experience for young and old. My 2 1/2 year old loved it just as much as my 91/2 year old. I loved it too, James 40 3/4 😁

James T — Google review

A fantastic place to visit and all the staff are super friendly and helpful to those with mobility issues.Children and adults will find it interesting and informative. Book your tickets in advance to ensure a place as this can very quickly book up and you could miss out.It is well worth any amount of waiting needed. Ensure you arrive in good time before your booked slot.

Mark G — Google review

It was a good location, set in a beautiful landscape and the site was easy to get to with plenty of parking. The centre is still very covid conscious and there is directional arrows inside and out to keep social distancing, masks are required in all the indoor areas and hand sanitiser is readily available. There are a number of business on site in the craft centre which are worth a visit. It is very good what they have done here, to bring local legends and myths to life with the labyrinth and old stories told in the maze. The staff are very friendly and polite, the guide we had in the labyrinth having a great sense of humour. The cave (mine) interior is very impressive. Do take note about what they say about the change in temperature! We enjoyed the visit and recommend it if you're in the area.

Marc F — Google review

Great place to visit with Children with lots to explore and look at. Staff were very helpful as we arrived late for the tour and proactively moved us to the next one. Tour was interesting and staff (boatman) was funny with the kids.Cafe was good to food and choices are excellent

Luke S — Google review

Visited today with our 3 kids (5,8,9) and had a great experience. Our kids can have a very short attention span yet following the tunnels and experiencing the story kept them fully engaged. I liked how the story was told with your boatsman showing you the way and allowing the Cave scenes and audio to provide the story. Staff were great. Got to see a quick glance of a jet fly by overhead also which I loved!

Kyle K — Google review

We had an amazing time here, the caves and story are really fun. The scenes in the cave are really well done, and provide a great atmosphere! The maze is also incredibly well done. Really well thought out and executed. The stories told in there are very entertaining and the quests are surprisingly tricky! All in all an excellent afternoon. Really worth seeing!

King Arthur’s Labyrinth was a fantastically unique experience. The staff were great and got into character. The boat ride into the caves really set the scene for something special.I would say if you aren’t steady on your feet, or get claustrophobic - then maybe this isn’t the place for you, but for everyone else - it’s not to be missed!

Fantastic day out. Our kids loved it 4 and 5 yrs. staff were lovely. The caves were sooo interesting. The stories were fantastic. All the little independent shops were lovely. Five stars!!

Was really excited to go in to the mines. Was great experince and will be going again.Wear warm clothes and comfortable boots. The tour goes very fast paced. It would have been nice to be able to look around. More lighting at the celling so you can see the amasing place.

This is an amazing experience, really enjoyed this, bit difficult if had mobility issues with walking through low caves but hard hats provided, really fun enthralling experience definitely recommend, book early though as very busy

Beautiful place to visit and enjoy all the craft stalls and tours of the cave's

Darrell D — Google review

Took my four year old and he loved it. Great boat ride and mine walk. Good story telling. We arrived late due to traffic and they pit us on a later tour with no fuss. The site has lots of different craft shops and a cafe. There's also a playground and free parking.

Chris S — Google review

We spent a very pleasant hour in the labyrinth. The venue is an old slate mine and the first part of the tour is by a boat followed by a series of tableaux telling the Arthurian legend. As a history geek I might disagree with some of the ‘facts’ but it was extremely well done and enjoyable. The cost was very reasonable and all in all it was a great visit.

Nick S — Google review

There are many shops - woodwork, glass work, chocolates, fragrance etc. They were really nice to get some gifts. There's a cafe/restaurant as well which was really nice, has generous food portions. Labyrinth was a good family activity.

Deepika A — Google review

Great place for families! Enjoyed by my 10 year old son and myself. Kids will love the boat in the cave, the storytellling,, animations, outdoor play area and sweetshop. Adults will love the cave walk and craft shops around.A really lovely few hours.

This lovely, large beach at Morfa Bychan is a real draw for nature lovers, boasting golden sands and stunning views. Perfect for a pit-stop between the busy seaside resorts of Criccieth and Porthmadog, you can park your car on the sand and enjoy the beach without having to take any trips to and from your vehicle!

Not much more you can expect from camping park. Such friendly and welcoming staff. Clean site and nice facilities. On site breakfast and wood oven pizza. Also daily food truck with tasty Jamaican style food. Couple minutes walk from an amazing beach, you can drive on beach with car £5 entrance .Will most definitely be returning to stay here again. Highly recommend..Ps..would love to see some local food etc.. 😉Unfortunately that's missing in most of the places in UK.

Stayed on black rock sands camping park in my campervan 2022 backs onto the beach lovely walk every day and of course the icecream. Visiting jerk chicken van yum also a mobile bar and pizza oven. Good clean facilities and welcoming staff loved it and of course the weather was good 👍 one of my all time favourite places 😀

Susan B — Google review

I had a great weekend there is a nice large pitch area. The toilets and showers were clean.I loved having to view Snowdonia one way and the sea the other way.The breakfast butty van and pizza van in the evening was nice to have. This saves having to cook. There is so much to do just on foot walking along the coastal path and evening walks along the beach.

Edward W — Google review

This was my first visit with a regular visitor and we had a wonderful time. The ice-cream van sold hot drinks, perfect for those determined to paddle in very cold water. One of those magical places you can still drive onto the beach and camp although we limited our experience this time to kite flying. Cheap and cheerful on a lovely windy day.

Nina H — Google review

Black Rock Sands campsite is neat and well maintained by the manager, Emma, and the efficient wardens. The pitches are grassy but they drain well. Most have good electricity sockets. The site roads are new tarmac. The loos and showers are good and clean with lashings of hot water. The site is right next to a great sandy beach and the Wales Coastal Path passes by.We had seen some negative reviews before coming but I am pleased to say these were unfounded and we can highly recommend Black Rocks Camping.

Alun D — Google review

Lovely site right on the beach and so peaceful.Great toilet block with hot showers.Rabbits running everywhere is really sweet to see.

Avril E — Google review

I have visited this site for years and have loved going. It is great for large groups and big familes as the pitches are spread out and the site is very large and spacious. It is dog friendly (kept on leads) and it is an incredibly short walk to a lovely, long sandy beach. The toilet facilities are always clean and there are plenty of cubicles and showers available. There is a breakfast van on site and a pizza oven that serves very nice pizza. The location is great as you have Porthmadog and serveeal other towns near by for shops and activities for people of all ages.My only issue is the customer service when booking. For several years we have had issues with the warden when making reservations and after we arrive. Service is curt, inconsistent and often our requests aren't listened to or ignored. For example, this year, we have a group reference number and asked to be placed in a pitch with our group. We requested an electric hook up so proximity to our group would not be an issue - they had all booked hook ups also. I first sent a WhatsApp message with my request, using the link online. This was read but not responded to.I then phoned up and after many attempts finally got through. I reiterated my requests as the WhatsApp message did not seem to be remembered, and needed to give each detail about three times as they were constantly forgotten. I once again gave the booking reference for our group and requested an electric hook up only to be told that our group were completely non-electric. I questioned this but was told very confidently that our group did not have any hook up pitches and that they were fully booked all weekend. When we arrived at the site, we found that our entire group (four pitches) had electric hook up so we could not camp next to them. There was an empty spot next to our group that we were told we could not camp at because it would be taken that day. It remained empty all weekend and we were still told on a couple of occasions that people were coming.Other members of our group had similar issues with false/miscommunication and general poor attitude when speaking to campers. This has all been overlooked in the past because of the site itself and the location but we have decided that we have made out last visit and will be staying somewhere else next time we are camping in the area.A real shame.

Hope F — Google review

Pulled into this site by mistake, the warden was so RUDE, stopping us from talking and so busy trying to get us to pay rather than looking at the booking form, checked us in. At one point she was so obnoxious I had to leave my partner to it before I lost my temper. Not many people rattle me but she was something else. After setting up our tent we get a phone call from our fellow campers, to tell us we were not in the right campsite. 🤣So can't really comment on the campsite just the awfully rude warden that should get a job at Karen's diner.

Kimberley F — Google review

Took a wrong turn into the place by mistake on a very quiet day. The lady came out and was very rude and obnoxious to us. She practically ran out to the car while we were just trying to turn round as the road had flooded. I get that this must be annoying but the rudeness shown was way over the top for someone mistakenly turning into the car park. It makes you think what sort of a frosty reception you'd get if you had paid and had a genuine problem. We're avid campers and looking to return to the area next year, we won't be parting with a single penny here based solely on a 60 second interaction which could have actually gone the other way if we'd been asked "were we lost and did we need help finding where we needed to be?" I think this is my first 1 star review, I'm very easily pleased generally but felt the need to add this as it was such a disappointing experience which rattled us all for a couple of hours afterwards

Aidan C — Google review

What a gorgeous beach that you can drive onto! There's not much there so taking a picnic and some beach stuff is a must. It is also dog friendly, which is great for us as our pupdog enjoys beach days and having a paddle in the sea. When we went, the beach was clean and I didn't encounter any unleashed dogs, which just goes to show that the owners are respectful of others. The water is also nice and clean - We found plenty of sealife too.

B C — Google review

My family and I love this place being able to drive on to the beach means you can take all your paraphernalia with you and have it to hand. It does get busy in the summer months and there is a charge during the high season of £5 to bring your car on.There are two areas one which allows dogs and one which doesn’t. It’s that big this doesn’t affect you in any way.Black Rock is great in all seasons we kayak here in summer, walk the dogs in winter and just come later in the autumn to enjoy the fabulous sunsets and watch the horses early in the morning… truly a beach for all seasons… and one to make memories on x

Emma H — Google review

Great campsite right near the beach, very good price for camping large campsite clean toilets. Open during summer months electric and non electric pitches. A little shop to buy wood and borrow burners and bbqs :) card or cash accepted

Dazzandlizzie — Google review

We came here some time ago and the shop and restaurant/pub that was there has now closed. The site has large pitches with electricity. The best part about this site is its proximity to the beach. Sandy beach, which you can drive on and spend the day.

Gillian P — Google review

It's always been an attraction because you can park on the beach. They are pricing themselves out of business. £8 parking is taking the Pee. Give the dogs a run for an hour and it's expensive.... Just go to Barmouth beach

Paul W — Google review

The site is 10/10! One of the best ones we've ever been to! The location is amazing, the pitches are big, the facilities are extremely clean. The owners is super welcoming and could not do any more for his clients. Highly recommended! We'll definitely be back!!Inga & Ernest

The cleanliness, friendliness, helpfulness and location of Blackrock Sands & the fabulous team who run the camp site, cannot be beaten. It really is an extremely special place. The power showers are included in the price, these are simply the best showers ever😍The showers & toilet block are kept immaculately clean, even in high season. We've stayed at Blackrock for 3/4 years & never had one complaint...only that we never want to leave!!!!!!When their Butties & Brews are open, you can buy an assortment of breakfasts in the morning & an assortment of evening food too.Emma's jacket potatoes & pizzas are absolutely delicious 😋The large beach & rolling sea is just 5 minutes away over a sand dune. It's extremely magical to fall asleep with the sounds of the waves & be woken by a fanfare of bird song.Thank you Emma & Rachel for all you're hard work & dedication to Blackrock Sands & for making our stay with you so special 😊 x

Very pretty and clean campground, the hosts were very nice and helpful, everything was clean and wenn maintained. The location is scenic and just a few steps from the ocean.

C G — Google review

Lovely campsite, amazing location. Showers are clean and hot, essential in ‘summer’ .Butties and brew van seemed popular and pizza was cooked fresh on site to purchase after 5pm.Be lovely if there was a small shop to buy some essentials, but a select shop is a couple of minutes drive away.We hired a campfire which was good, you could buy all the ingredients for toasted marshmallows which was a hit with the kids! We will be back :)

Katy Y — Google review

Our party had 3 adults and 3 children; no pets. We had two tents and two cars. All of us would recommend this site. The whole site was clean, infact the toilet block is shut 2 hours daily for cleaning...never seen a toilet block so clean. There were lots of dogs on site, but the majority were kept on leads when moving around. We had a brekkie at the stand every morning, which was value for money. Also tried the pizza, which is good too. Staff were friendly and helpful. The views and the beach are fantastic. It is less than 300 yards to the sea. Dogs are not allowed on certain sections of the beach. We had a great time and hope to revisit next year...if they will have us!

Kerry T — Google review

What a fab place! We arrived to find our power lead wasn't working, one chat with the manager and she provided a replacement for us to use that night! The site itself is clean and quiet. It's a 5-minute walk to the beach or a 2-3 min drive to a beach you can park on for £8.There is a great washing machine and drier (£5 each) right next to the shower block. There's a butty van run by the site each morning proving bacon/sausage butties, hot drinks and more (bring your own lidded cup as they are no longer providing lids for hot drinks - being more environmentally friendly). The showers are fabulous, hot, powerful and clean! The only 'issue' we had was that when the toilet/shower block is closed between 12-2 each day for cleaning, you have to use portaloo's which weren't pleasant. The fire pit is a great addition - easy to hire for the entirety of your stay, with replacement kindling/logs and fire lighters available on site.

The beach is absolutely beautiful, Thursday was free however Friday there was a charge to take a vehicle on it. Would highly recommend, particularly outside school seasons. Camp-site was well thought out and clean & tidy. Friendly rangers and very easy access to the beach front. Very good standard of amenities.

The Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways is a narrow gauge steam train that runs through 14 miles of rural pasture and forests. The train is highly recommended for tourists because of its beautiful views and waterfalls.

Beautiful trip up 4,000 feet to hotel. Multiple waterfalls. Multiple spectacular mountain cliff, and valley views. Lot of snow still at elevation. Highly recommended!

Wonderful trip on the old slate mine railway from Porthmadog. They helpfully accommodated our large group, dog and double pram too. Enthusiastic volunteers and nice cafe and information at the stop. Unfortunately it was pouring with rain so we didn’t do the walk!

I really enjoyed this spontaneous trip - The Harbourmaster with the Welsh Highland Railway from Porthmadog to Caernarfon. The views were amazing and well worth the trip.I'd definitely visit again if I found myself back in North Wales.Nice and friendly staff.

Paulina B — Google review

Great place thoroughly enjoyed the experience staff were welcoming, friendly and very knowledgeable and approachable my only criticism is the booking fee is quite a lot when you book online but it is really worth doing for anyone who enjoys trains. We did the Victorian journey which was just over 2 hrs. You also get to see the other trains pulling in and leaving whilst you are on the platform which is an added bonus.

Emma J — Google review

Sadly the railway does not always operate which I think it should. The railway should always be going to show that Britain and it's industry's do not stop. The stations looked cute and the railway almost looked liked a child's play set scaled up. I like that it can connect isolated areas together as well as being a tourism attraction. I hope to actually ride a train when they once again are in service from April.

RED B — Google review

Booked a last minute trip on the woodland wanderer and thoroughly enjoyed it. The kids loved riding in the carriage and playing in the park at the cafe when we stopped. Expect a que in the cafe if you want food and drink or take a little picnic with you. Either way we'll worth the trip with the kids.

A spontaneuos trip that was an amazing weekend. First class on the Ffestiniog Railway. If deciding whether to do first class or observation carriage they are in the same first class carriage just split. We went for the observation which was about £5 each more per person than first class. But we ended up in first class seats as they were more comfortable and more leg room. Observation just more glass but seating not as comfortable as no head rest like there is in first class....personally go with first class over observation.

Nostalgia, beautiful view and great fun for family day out. Can feel the live history and devotion the driver has towards the train. It brings new experience for someone used to high speed train maglev etc.Deducting one star as I was expecting some just stop oil protest but I see none.

Enjoyed our journey the line from Porthmadog to Tanybwlch but thought the cost of the trip was a bit high. Lovely cafe though and friendly staff.

What a wonderful experience of a bygone era when steam was the only way to get around. We decided to treat ourselves to the first class Pulman carriage, with afternoon tea on the return journey. All staff were very friendly and helpful, which added to the event. You don’t have to be a rail fanatic to enjoy this experience so I would be happy to recommend it

We got the 10.40am New Year's Day service from here to Beddgelert. It was fantastic! The narrow gauge train means you get great views out of both sides as you travel up the Aber Glaslyn Pass. Great ride on a beautiful sunny clear day, could only go up to Clogwyn which is 3/4 way up, as maintenance was being done to the rest of the track. Very cold but then at 2555ft it would be. Great views all around, worth the trip.

Fantastic day out on 16/07/2023, taking in both the Woodland Wanderer to Tan-y-Bwlch in the morning and the Mountain Spirit in the afternoon.Experience was professional throughout as there were signalling issues during the day following the poor weather the previous day but visitor were kept well informed throughout the day and the departure time of the afternoon Mountain Spirit was pushed back to accommodate some of the lost time due to the issues which was a nice touchWould highly recommend giving both trips a go if you're local or visiting the area on holiday

Brilliant. The scenery is stunning. Being on the train is great fun, especially when it goes down the street at the start. A must do when in the area. Wheelchair space available.

Embarking on the steam train journey through the hills is an experience that seamlessly blends nostalgia, natural beauty, and engineering marvel. As the train chugs along the hills, it treats passengers to breathtaking panoramic views that are nothing short of awe-inspiring. The journey is not just about transportation; it's a gateway to a bygone era, where the rhythmic chugging of the steam engine and the billowing plumes of smoke evoke a sense of wonder and excitement.Great Experience.Recommend 👌🏻Location:- Porthmadog (Wales)

An absolutely wonderful experience, to be able to watch the comings and goings of rolling stock and to experience Railway travel as it used to be is an immersing joy. Unlike the hermetically sealed carriages of today the trains operated by the Ffestiniog Railway allow you to connect with the countryside you're travelling through. The locomotives are magnificent and larger than you would imagine for a gage of two feet. I can thoroughly recommend this attraction to all.

John G — Google review

I would say that this railway and it's scenery are one of the wonders of this world. The scenery is absolutely breathtaking and the condition of the locomotives and rolling stock are phenomenal, especially during an action packed weekend at the Bygones Weekend.

We chose the route from Porthmadog to Blaenau and took our two Labradors with us. During our trip, the train compartment wasn't particularly full, so we always had plenty of space with our dogs. Forty years ago I wanted to come to the famous Ffestiniog & Whelsh Highland Railway. I must say I was not disappointed. What a wonderful scenic train. The welcome, the cleanliness and the beauty of the equipment, everything is there to make your trip a daydream.Take your time, let yourself be carried away and dream aboard this Pullman car, which is well worth the 70 GBP charged.Ask the volunteers any questions you like, and they'll be happy to answer them.If I can, I'll come back one day to do all the excursions, because it's worth the detour.

Scenic Railroads

Bala Lake Railway, also known as Rheilffordd Llyn Tegid, offers a delightful nine-mile round trip through Snowdonia National Park on narrow gauge steam trains. Passengers can enjoy stunning views of Bala Lake and the nearby mountains while riding heritage locomotives. The railway also features a charming station cafe and the opportunity to meet a Welsh engine named Winifred from children's books.

Fantastic experience. Nice little train ride. The southerly station has a coffee shop and toilets etc. but not a lot else in the village. The Bala end has no facilities but it’s only a 10m walk to the village centre if you get your timings right.

Great experience with a small, almost cute narrow-gauge railway. Everything is very lovingly prepared. The train station, the signal box, everything is very beautiful. The train employees were very friendly. We quickly decided to take the train. And haven't regretted it.

We visited Bala Lake and we went on the train we got the return it was well worth it. There is a cafe at the station and you can return on another train if you want to explore or you can go back on the train you were on. The people running the train are doing a great job as the train runs alongside Bala Lake there are plans to expand it.

Carol H — Google review

Small stream train run by volunteers that takes you along the lake between Llanuwchllyn and Bala. A scenic route enjoyed at a leisurely pace of a by gone era.We booked single trip tickets online using their very impressive website and walked back. On our return the cafe was approaching closing time but the two young ladies very cheerfully provided us with coffee and toasted sandwiches which were delicious and very welcome. Service with a smile.Very highly recommended for a gentle, nostalgic trip.

A great heritage railway, stunning scenery and a nice journey alongside the lake.At Bala stop you can walk a number of routes around the town and return on a later train or simply stay on board and return direct.Friendly helpful staff.

Mark L — Google review

The Bala railway is a wonderful excursion with spectacular views of the lake. There are steam and electric engines depending on the day. It can get cold out of summer so wrap up warm. The station at Llanuwchllyn is charming and has a museum of history of the line

What a fantastic little railway. Started the journey at Llanuwchllyn station. Beautiful station. Well look after, friendly staff and parking . On are journey, beautiful scenery and sights. Bala Lake is truly beautiful. On the return journey, are engine drivers where brilliant. Letting people on the footplates for photos and making us laugh. This is a great little railway. Excellent value for money. Friendly staff and beautiful scenery.

We didn't ride this time but will when we come back. Great friendly helpful staff. Good facilities to eat and drink. Beautiful way to see Bala Lake. A must visit!

Visited: 20/2/24Bala Lake Railway staff were genuinely amazing, they were freindly, very knowledgeable and are were very keen to help and point out things of intrest to a railway enthusiast. The Llanuwchllyn station is well equipped and clean. A well stocked gift shop, clean toilets and most importantly a warm and welcoming cafe. Will re-visit!

Festiniog to Porthmadog was a great ride but can cost the earth £120 for 2 adults and 2 children. (Dogs are welcome). We did later find out if you apply it's £34 per year for adults to ride the heritage railways so look into that. Unfortunately porthmadog was torrential rain when we arrived. It was a great trip overall and I enjoyed it we got to see other steam trains some truly original designs like duel ended with a single boiler very clever. We did also do Bala around the lake which was shorter but very nice

Danielle J — Google review

Such a quaint place with lovely staff who even let my children go at the front of the train and the service box. Staff were so kind in the cafe, they didn't force us to buy anything and said we were welcome to shelter from the rain. Beautiful views over Bala lake.

What a beautiful ride and lovley train and amazing staff. Go, it is wonderfulTea shop.and staff wonderful .

Jane P — Google review

Such a lovely railway experience that deserves the publicity. We did a round trip from Llanuwchllyn to Bala. It was £15 for an adult return (£14 if you buy online), we rocked up with about 5 minutes to spare and bought tickets from a volunteer on the platform with an iPad and a card machine. There's plenty of parking at that end, and the train returns straight away so it's convenient. We visited on a weekday in the May half term holiday and took the first train from Llanuwchllyn, there was plenty of space. We sat in the front carriage, which has a great view of the train. The sides are open so we definitely had a few soot marks by the time we got to Bala! We saw a Honey Buzzard in the trees as we went through a wooded section and saw the RAF training planes fly up the lake too. It was a beautifully scenic visit. We stayed on the train to return as we had already explored Bala. At Llanuwchllyn there are bathrooms, a shop and a cafe which is good for those doing the return journey from Bala. We also visited the heritage centre which has great information and some cool machines and carriages. I'm really glad I went and would recommend it for all the reasons above.

Fortunately had a bright, clear day. Views are stunning. Lovely, relaxing pace. Thoroughly recommend

Nicola T — Google review

Amazing little steam railway that takes you along the lake, passing a couple of stations, under bridges and finally coming to a stop and coming back again.Even though it was a bit of a rainy day, off and on, the experience was brilliant. Great for families or those that love the sights and smells of a steam ride. Expect to get covered in a bit of soot from the steam if you sit in the open windowed carriages, but all part of the experience!

Chris C — Google review

If you love your small trains this place is for you. All the staff were super friendly & really helpful. Thankyou

Rob W — Google review

First visit to the railway on Bank Holiday Monday, double bonus as it was a steam gala. Good value for money. Tickets you're recommended to you use the QR code at the station to book, doing this will save you money. All staff on the railway couldn't of done more. Answering all questions and just saying hello to us. Lovely journey along the lake. The museum is worth a look around, look forward to another visit

Duncan J — Google review

Awesome little place for the rail enthusiasts and lovers of General history.

Stephen D — Google review

Amazing railway journey with spectacular views of Lake Bala and the surrounding countryside. The staff are all very friendly and helpful, there's a shop and cafe at the station. You can book tickets in advance and even buy tickets for dogs too! There is a 20 minute walk when you get to Bala (Pen-Y-Bont station) but there are plans / work in progress to extend the line into the middle of Bala town. Well worth a visit!

Chris W — Google review

The line is relatively short, but a great experience for those who love steam railways. You can have a close-up sight of the engine and the staff are welcoming and informative. The ride is a little bumpy and trees have grown up to obscure some of the views, but our group enjoyed the trip overall.

Castle

Sights & Landmarks

This imposing castle, built in the 11th century, stands on an elevated spot overlooking the river Caernarfon. It offers a museum with exhibitions and family tickets, and is still in its original military style. The site has a rich and extensive history, dating back to Roman times - little is known about the fortifications but they prove that this castles heritage is vast. Today, visitors are captivated by the beautiful facade and surrounding scenery of this majestic castle.

Fabulous venue and so well presented. Great introduction of some new with the old. Loads to explore ( although would have liked a little more signage inside the maze of stairways, towers and rooms). Fabulous museum which could take up a whole separate visit. Highly recommended

Sarah C — Google review

Visited in August 2019 when during my Wales holiday. On the way to the town I drove through the national park early morning in the ever biggest rain I have seen in my life. It left a mark on my mood, so I could not really enjoy the castle. Anyway everything was wet and huge puddles sat everywhere, and this castle is full stone built with uneven surfaces, uneven staircases inside and out, too, mostly without hand rails. I managed a few staircases down and up too, but after a while I just had simply enough. The view is beautiful, the castle is historic, and we can find some informational rooms, as well as a movie room about its history, and the coronation ceremony. It is definitely worth to visit, and I do not want to write anything bad just because I was moody that time. True, that I was not able to enjoy the castle as much as I wanted, due to the weather and my mood, and I spent there only about 2 hours. Neither it helped that it is a bit of a creepy place with its dark and narrow corridors and staircases, and the outside cloudy dark weather did not help to bring in some lights and warmth.. But this place is big enough to the whole family for a day out and I think kids can enjoy and learn while playing. It has toilet/cafe and shop, of course the way out is always through the shops. I used none of them during my short visit. Parking is outside behind the castle next to the river, and they warned us to park as far as we can from the water, because it can be flooded after rain...

Evalynn B — Google review

£40 for a family ticket is good value, but what you should do is buy the 3 day ticket which allows you into several castles for only £56.Caernarfon was great for a good half day visit and staff member Edward was so very helpful and should get a pay rise!

Ben C — Google review

Wonderful castle, it's nice to go round and explore. There is no right way to go round, so you can just go round and take in all the history. There are steep spiral staircases, which is to be expected in a castle! You can walk all the way round the top, and go up some of the towers to go higher. It is very well maintained and a good trip for anyone wanting to learn more about history.

Kelly E — Google review

I love Caernarfon. It’s a beautiful town.We visited mid November, when tourism is at its lowest. It was certainly fascinating walking round and hearing everyone speak the local tongue. We actually felt like we were in a totally different country. There are some fantastic bars and restaurants within the castle walls, it is also a very pretty place for pictures. If visiting, please be mindful of the locals. They love their area, and would appreciate if you respect it as though it was your own. I know I would. And should you visit, you’d see why.

Ashley M — Google review

Stopped by here on a Wim and very glad we did. Beautiful castle with lots of history. There were plaques dotted around the castle giving visitors an insight into what that particular room may have been used for. There were short videos available to tell the story of the families at the castle. Guided tours are available on request. Small cafe on site offering drinks and sandwiches. Good value for money. View over the town and harbour were gorgeous!

Kieron S — Google review

We loved our visit to the castle. It was interesting for all ages. Accessibility isn't great but that's to be expected from a castle. Luckily our 2 year old is good on his feet and he loved exploring. There is a coffee shop, toilets and for once the gift shop was reasonably priced with a wooden sword for £3 or a small wooden dagger for £2.50.

Kristin F — Google review

Excellent to visit such an intact castle. Great fun to climb each tower and to navigate the pleasingly maze-like interior of the walls and towers. Lovely views in several directions. Very good value for a family ticket and the included guide book makes a change from the normal rip-off prices in similar attractions. Highly recommended for a family visit.

Michael I — Google review

A great visitor experience, plenty of challenging medieval steps to ascend. Nice little on site coffee spot with delightful staff. Good price point which includes a very good visitor guide book.

Keith G — Google review

Wow, what a beast of a castle. Absolutely stunning in colour and size. A fantastic castle with something for everyone. Great place to take the kids and it has the Welsh Fusiliers museum in its grounds. Some great exhibitions in the towers and halls. A must to see.

Ron B — Google review

It is a great Castle in and of itself, which in the face of it offers good accessibility for the less abled. Unfortunately, this turned out to be a disappointment. Yes, you can explore the courtyard, but the lift to the tower was not available on the day we visited. Maybe because we were visiting in the off season (mid September)? On top of that the Welsh Fusiliers Museum had a ramp, but no automatic door, so you could not get in on your own. Once in the museum, you were quickly faced with a step up, so no other option than to turn back if you are in a wheelchair or on a mobility scooter. So I decided to have a cup of tea in the small cafe, while my husband explored the upper levels and the wall walk. However, here also steps to get in and no handrails!I was most disappointed. Luckily as disabled person and carer entrance was free for us. Or else I would have asked for my money back.

Nanda — Google review

Fantastic! Short 10 minute movie about history of castle and then lots of exploring throughout the grounds and castle walls. Museums pop up throughout the turrets. Loved it!Not good for those with mobility issues. Walking in the walls can be treacherous. However, the basic castle grounds are fairly accessible and show off the lovely ruins. This castle is within a lovely village.

Àmanda H — Google review

Fantastically preserved castle with a whole days worth of exploring. Pleasant little cafe for coffee or sandwich breaks, and lots of installations dotted around with information boards illustrating the rich history of the place. Gift shop has a good range of products and staff throughout the site are friendly and welcoming.

K R — Google review

It's an amazing castle. We visited this castle on Sunday and it was kinda quiet. It has a museum inside which is rather interesting so it's a must! The castle isn't enormous so I think that less than 2 hours are enough to visit it all. If you feel like a coffee or some snacks, you can have a pause at the coffee shop they have in the castle. Besides, do not forget to take a look at the little shop at the end of your tour inside de Castle to get a nice souvenir of your visit :)

Stefania T — Google review

This is 800 years old castle in North Wales. The castle is quite perfect. It's not too big, 1-2 hr is enough for tour the whole castle. There is exhibition about Prince Chales coronation to be Duke of Wales in 50 + years ago.Entrance fee is about 12 GBP.

Kritsana P — Google review

We spent there 2,5 hours. Could be more! They have gift shop (smaller than in other castle in wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿), toilets and place to have cup of tea of coffee. It has nice museum inside and lots of turrets with ropes and lots of stairs :) but we manage all of them :)) I highly recommend to buy tickets online! It was not crowd and we spent really great time there! Meanwhile we did not like town at all where castle is located! Parking is right next to the castle! 🏰

Julia H — Google review

Great castle! Takes a good couple of hours to go around the whole castle take in all the views and read all of the history in the museum. Very windy walking around so dress appropriately. Also a lot of stairs! Something to take into consideration. Parking is easy and not expensive.

Amy M — Google review

Cannot believe I had never been here. What an amazing place. Currently being renovated to give less mobile and disabled people the chance to explore more of it which is admirable. Getting up into the towers and along the ramparts is huge fun and all around it there are exhibits detailing the history of the castle. The views are fab too. Staff so friendly as well. Recommended!

Jan H — Google review

Had a great day at Caernarfon Castle. Family ticket was £40 (2 adults, 2 children) a bit on the expensive side for us. Visited with my husband and my two children along with my parents. My parents are English Heritage members so their admission was free - Cadw offer English Heritage members either reduced entrance fee or you get it free depending on how long you have been a member. We parked at the Slate Quay car park which is £4.80 to park all day and is literally behind the castle. What I absolutely loved about the castle was the wooden viewing platform that has a lift to it, this is fantastic for wheelchair users which I have never seen at any other castle I've visited, some would argue it spoils the historical value of the castle but I like that it is inclusive. Having the lift was great as my parents couldn't manage all the steps. The exhibitions in the Eagle tower were interesting. The views from the towers were lovely especially those looking over the sea and the river with boats. The disabled toilets were so well equipped with a harness, height adjustable changing station, privacy screen and plenty of room, well done for making the castle wheelchair accessible in some areas.

Rose G — Google review

A beautiful castle located in the centre of town. Looked around it and then went for a wonder locally to the little stone beach and play park. There is a Wales eye 👁 at the back for a view of the town and castle. Enough to do for a day trip out. Local chippys are amazing.

CJ — Google review

Fantastic place for all the family to visit. Staff were so helpful and it now has more accessable areas for people with disabilities or prams. U can come and go on a day ticket. We spent a little time in the morning looking round then went to see some of the town before returning later on. Well worth the cost of entry. Best castle we have visited so far.

Caernarfon CastleCaernarfon, WalesThis massive castle from the late 1200s was a lot of fun to check out. Just like one of the castles we went to yesterday, you can walk all around on your own. From climbing up steep steps to get on top of the tallest tower to walking down dark passageways, there's just something about exploring amazing castles. It took us over an hour to see everything we wanted to see and that was even with skipping a few parts as we much have walked up and down over 200 steps. There's a museum dedicated to Welsh soldiers in one section of the castle which was pretty interesting to check out.The views from the towers are incredible and you can clearly see what an amazing fortress this would have been back then. Highly recommended.

Jef H — Google review

The castle is worth a visit while in Wales. Unfortunately, we took a 3.5-hour excursion from the ship port, and it was not enough time to visit all parts of the castle. The tour of the castle provides the opportunity to see many rooms and areas. The views from the towers are breathtaking! The spiral staircase up to the tower is steep with limited space. If you have issues with tight spaces or mobility, you will want to pass on the climb to the top. There were approximately 100 steps to the top, with only enough space for one person.

Shondra J — Google review

Massive! Easy to spend an entire day here. We paid for 2 hours of parking and had to rush to see just half of the castle. Highly recommend you plan accordingly and spend more timeParking is pay and display:£4/2 hrs or £6/4 hrs

Frederick N — Google review

Lovely big castle to walk round and explore! Lots of history here, lots to see and do! Wheelchair accessible for the main ground floor but not through the buildings. Lots of steps and nooks, crannies and towers to investigate, but watch those steep steps climbing the towers, just a rope to hang on to, can get very slippy! We went out of season so the main cafe was closed, the small cafe was open but was not step free to get in to warm up and dry off. Nice museum to be found in one of the buildings. Brilliant example of a castle, loved the exploring! Lots of car parking right next to the castle.

Claire D — Google review

The castle of castles - absolutely the bee's knees of castles, a must see for anyone who likes medieval history. Remarkably well preserved for something from the 13th century, and very well maintained and presented with interesting extras like a military museum and some artwork /sculpture inside as well as helpful and knowledgeable staff. Great and varied views from the 7 towers. Can't praise this experience enough, and the castle itself is remarkable and stunning. Well worth the admission fee.

Dani W — Google review

Amazing day out with family. Kids absolutely loved it. Museum part interesting, great design and layout. Beautiful views from the top of each tower.Staff welcoming, friendly, helpful, and polite.Coffee, cold drinks, and snacks are available.

If you like castles, this is a great one because it is such great condition. There are seven large towers to explore and the museum of the Royal Welch Fusiliers is located within the walls, fascinating and included in the entry price

Entry requires ticket. It’s a beautiful place. Lots of parking available. The Anglesey pub near by. Small town. Walk around the town and enjoy the castle views.

Alphy T — Google review

Lovely castle staff so helpful and friendly. Alot of history. A nice hour to spend as a family exploring. Car park right by castle. If disabled free entry and free companion. Wheelchair access big ground to sit and relax coffee shop in grounds small gift shop by exit. We went early 9.30 am opening time so we got straight in and not many people.

Absolutely amazing! We arrived at about 1pm and we were there until closing. Would highly recommend making a day of it, we missed a few bits because we ran out of time. Not for the faint hearted, lots of steps and heights. But really interesting!! Parking within the town was straightforward too. Really loved it. Will go back!

Llyn Tegid, also known as Bala Lake, is the largest natural lake in Wales and is located in the picturesque town of Bala. Surrounded by mountains such as Snowdonia and the Berwyn mountains, this serene lake offers a tranquil setting with picnic areas and opportunities for non-motorized boating. The town of Bala itself boasts a rich cultural heritage and provides easy access to popular attractions in the region.

Beautiful lake with lots of activities around it.

View is nice, lovely place, specially when you on the way. But about lake, specially swimming is not good, you should have special shoes, otherwise its to painful for walking barefoot, evening time have lot of small flys and they bite you. My all face are red and scrunching. But anyway is wild nature. For bbq is nice place, you can enjoying anyway. But im not sure if im going in there again.

Stunning spot for Kayaking, paddleboarding. Head to main car park or around the edges for smaller car parks and spots to get on the water. Amazing in summer with a really nice atmosphere.

Ashley B — Google review

Bala Lake is the next best experience to being by the sea. The atmosphere is great with lots of paddle board participants and canoes on the water. Great for paddling and cooling down with shallow access into the water. Brilliant place for a picnic and lovely walks. The restaurant is excellent, serving hot and cold food up until 1400. There is a steam train by the lakeside which is great for narrow guage rail enthusiasts.

There are also watersports if you fancy. It is a peaceful lake with good access by car. It is has quite a good size car park with good toilets. However get there early as it does get busy. You do have to pay for parking but the upkeep of the area is beautiful so I do not mind at all. You can drive around the whole lake around a small lane at the top. Views across the lake and Snowdonia mountains. You have to visit here if just to see it. My photos are from different times of day and seasons as I just love coming here.

Great place to visit. Lots of on water activities available. Like heading to the beach only better.

Jannine K — Google review

Beautiful lake, well signed and easy to get to. Parking is free for disabled and £3 for 4 hrs. I wouldn't say it's wheelchair friendly though! More walking stick friendly. There is construction going on to the far side at the moment so walking is limited in that section. If your paddle boarding or boating there's lessons and equipment hire available. It was very busy when we arrived, around midday, so we went out the entrance turned left and walked along until we came to the first lay by, if you go over the lay by you'll see steps descending to where you can walk next to the lake or even pitch up in a quiet little bay there which we saw a couple of families doing. There is a sign up warning about green algae on the water here!We had our dogs with us but kept them away from the water and had fresh bottles of water and a travel bowl for them. The walk takes you though a wooded area up onto a walkway that leads to steps ascending to another lay by, we chose to walk back on the wide path as it was a hot day and I didn't want the dogs out overheating, but on another occasion we would like to carry on the walk.I think it took us around 1 and a half hrs to do the walk. When we got back to the car park many people had left so we found a shaded spot for the dogs and had a picnic while enjoying the picturesque setting.

Snowdon mountain offers spectacular views. It is mesmerising every time I visit.Whatever Snowdon offers you is the best you can ever get. Be it trekking or mountain railway, you will be impressed.

Hari M — Google review

This is as far as the Snowdon Mountain Railway goes at the moment with the last 1/4 leg of the journey to the summit closed until further notice. If you buy the return ticket they only let you stay 30 mins here once you arrive otherwise they don't guarantee you a seat on the return trip which is inconvenient. Bearing this in mind, even with the cheaper £29 'early bird' tickets which we bought we thought it was expensive, they also charge you an extra 3.50 fee for booking online. Other than that I felt that the views from the station back down the mountain and towards Llanberis are only so so compared to the summit, which is an additional 1ish hour trek from this station, and so the 30 mins they give you isn't enough to trek up to the summit. Make sure you go to the toilet first before boarding the train as there are no toilets nor other facilities up here.If I were you though I'd wait for the railway to reopen all the way back to the summit before considering coming. See the photos I've posted to get an idea of the views from the station. If you really want to come make sure you come on a clear day otherwise it is a total waste of time and money and check the weather forecast before booking tickets online as there are no refunds.

Alan C — Google review

Give a three star mostly for the bad weather. Even though it is a bit pricy but overall good experience with the train and staff. Will visit again once the weather becomes a little bit like Andalucia (will it)…

Felix F — Google review

The station is at 775m and at the time we went up the rails onwards to the top were being repaired. The train stops just above the Llanberis path and has great views. We were just below the cloud which was forecast in the Met Web page as being at 800m for most of the time we were there. The train waits for the 30m stop so if the weather changes then you have some shelter.Check the mountain forecast ahead so you know how to dress. It. An be cold there even on a sunny day.

Great service. Very informative staff. Beautiful views. Will use this service again. Loved it.

Fabulous scenic ride up Snowdon shame it only goes three quarters of the way up at the moment. Very busy need to book several days before to have a good choice of journey times, we booked the day before and only 2 slots available mid afternoon.

Stephen W — Google review

Great morning on the train, met some interesting people on way up. Would recommend commentary on train as lots of history over 100 years of train journeys and amazing views from Clogwyn of Anglesey and Wales. Superb

This review is based on my personal experience on the day.We booked the tickets for the 2nd of April 2024, early afternoon.First thing I must say it's the car park, £12.50 for the day and the automatic machines don't work with Debit card or contact less. I used Ring Go.Then we jumped on the train, seats were really wet and not heating .When we reach the top of the mountain we couldn't see a thing due to the fog.Soo we jumped backed on the train and waited half an hour for it's departures.Basically for my family of 4 I spent £127 plus parking. For a trip on a cold diesel trian.Soo for that day I had to give 2 stars .Maybe if it was nice and clear it would have been a different experience.

Christian — Google review

Great views once you get higher up. The tickets were expensive though and it was a hot day and the interior of the train was clean but really hot (not much ventilation). It was a good experience though to see the views and easier than walking it!

Jason R — Google review

Another thing to cross off my bucket list although would also like to walk it we took the train on this occasion.Weather was good so we had lovely views. Could only go three-quarters of the way up due to season but still stunning.Only disappointment was trying to find somewhere for lunch after

Recently had the pleasure of visiting Mountain Station, and I must say it was an experience like no other. Situated in the majestic Snowdonia mountain range, this destination offers a combination of a great view, an exhilarating train journey, and easy travel arrangements.First and foremost, the view from Mountain Station is absolutely awe-inspiring. As you ascend to the highest point, the panoramic vistas of Snowdonia unfold before your eyes. The rugged peaks, lush valleys, and serene lakes create a mesmerizing landscape that truly takes your breath away. Whether you're a nature enthusiast or simply someone who appreciates natural beauty, the view from Mountain Station is sure to leave a lasting impression. The train journey to the summit is another highlight of the experience. The well-maintained train takes you on a scenic route through the mountains, offering glimpses of cascading waterfalls and picturesque villages nestled in the valleys below. The gentle chug of the train combined with the stunning surroundings creates a serene and enjoyable atmosphere, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the journey. One aspect that makes Mountain Station particularly convenient is the ease of travel. The station is easily accessible, and the staff is friendly and helpful, ensuring a smooth and hassle-free experience. Pre-booking tickets is highly recommended, as it guarantees your spot and saves you from potential disappointment due to limited availability. The process is straightforward and can be done online, allowing you to plan your visit in advance and avoid any last-minute complications.

Pramod S — Google review

Would have given 5 stars but it didn't go all the way to the summit of Snowdon. We were sat right behind the guard at the front of the train (compartment A), which was great.

Roger L — Google review

Arrived at 11 o clock. The first available train was 12:30, the trip took 2 hrs . There were no trains available when we arrived back. The fare was £32 pound return. Thcar Park across the road was £11. The train only went 3/4 of the way up, but the views were fantastic.

Norman B — Google review

Although I wasn't able able to get to the summit and the train was rather expensive costing £160 for a family of four it was well worth it for the view.

Corto M — Google review

The scenery is absolutely stunning, even if the summit is closed (we only went to the 1st stop). Our Guard was great, full of information (who knew one of the original engines rolled off the track and fell into the valley below (in about 1893)).

Waterfalls

Pistyll Rhaeadr Waterfall, located in the western side of the Berwyn mountain range, is a stunning three-stage waterfall with a total drop of 73 meters. Despite being often mistakenly referred to as Wales' tallest single-drop waterfall, it offers breathtaking views and can be easily accessed via a footpath from the nearby car park. Visitors can also enjoy a tearoom and B&B at its base, making it an ideal spot for a relaxing day trip.

Beautiful place . Lovely location .Amazing views of waterfall .Waterfall is very short distance from car park . Car Park charges £5 up-to 8 hours . It’s better to buy some delicious cakes from the tiny little cafe just near the waterfall . If you want a bit of walk just park your car in the nearest area free of cost I think !! We haven’t paid anything & later we saw the actual car park which was payable. The cafe stop serving hot food at 3 in the afternoon but we lucky enough to try cakes and tea there. Carrot cake was so yummy only last one left for us .It’s a beautiful place with some amazing views . Really good place to spend time close to the nature .

Shana S — Google review

This is a truly stunning waterfall, when viewed from the bottom. Plenty of rocks to climb/walk on too. The car park costs at the time of this post £5.00 for cars, with a beautiful little, what I took for a cafe/shop there too. I didn’t go into this building though. You can venture to the very top of the waterfall by taking the path on the car park side. Be warned though. At the top, on my visit it was like a bog!! It’s deceiving just how deep that mud is. What looks like any other usual slightly water logged area that you may squelch through is 6-9 inches deep! A stone path, like an alpine path should be put in.

Chris L — Google review

Brilliant day out!... stunning viewsBiggest waterfall we have ever seen dogs loved a good run round in the woodland , little cafe & toilets with park park at the bottom of the falls & pathway with the option to view the top of falls if your brave enough. Great day out

KG — Google review

£5 parking .. you can pay buy card or cash .. 50p if u need the toilets.. but its all well worth the short trip to the waterfall. There is a little cafe serving cakes , and sandwiches.. well worth a visit

Stuart H — Google review

Lovely place to visit. Be aware that the road to the waterfall is single track with passing places but definitely worth the drive when you arrive there. Parking cost £5 which I found a little steep and the toilets cost 40p. There is a tea room but I didn't visit so not sure if it's any good.

Tom P — Google review

Beautiful location (on a sunny day!) short hike up to top (approx. 1.25km and 120m ascent), though can walk easily to the bottom.Simple tea room at bottom with view of waterfall.Parking is £5 by tearoom though if you need a pee it's 40p... cash! You can park on the road about 500m away but I really don't recommend it as it is single track road and you can't really turn round as some cars were finding as we left.

Phil T — Google review

Absolutely beautiful walk to the waterfall. Not too strenuous but probably not for the those who have difficulty walking far and on uneven surfaces. The carpark had plenty of spaces but would advise to come early as it gets full pretty quick. Be careful of the narrow route in and out when we left it caused a tailback and a lot of negotiating to get single vehicles to safely pass in a sensible manner. Bring a picnic as its a lovely spot. Lots of breathtaking scenery.

Yazz — Google review

Wow what a wonderful experience. This place is magical. Much better than I anticipated. Yes there are negatives, the roads leading to the falls are narrow and people drive too quickly on these roads. The car park is £5 no matter how long you stay , but closes at 5pm with no use allowed after. The toilets are chargeable. But this is still worth a visit, We parked just before the official chargeable car park which was free. Just be considerate to other drives. From there the falls were only a 10min walk or shorter from the main car park. Please be aware the bedrock around the falls is predominantly slate and can be quite slippery especially when wet. Which it is probably 90% of the time from either rain or people paddling. Enjoy your visit, take a camera, take a towel, take some grippy shoes, if you brave maybe even wear your swimmies under you clothes. Ready for a quick dip in the bracing water. But most of all take home a memory of this stunning place.❤️

Mark B — Google review

Very impressive and picturesque waterfall.Easy access. Cafe and car park right at the bottom. The route to the top is quite scenic and I would rate is as easy. It takes about 30-40 minutes one way.

Kamila Z — Google review

Beautiful waterfall with forest walks, great for dogs and active kids. Nice tea room/cafe on site. The road leading to it can be a pain if its busy as its a single track road with passing places for approx 5 miles, so as long as drivers are courteous and careful then it's fine.

Michaela E — Google review

Lovely far reaching walk around the falls area as many paths to explore if you wish to explore the area further.Cafe caught us out as only accepted cash...so worth knowing. We had a nice visit on a sunny day. I should imagine it would get busy at peak times of year around the main attraction area.

Lorraine J — Google review

Absolutely stunning waterfall like nothing I've seen before in the UK. I'd recommend arriving early for parking and because of less people, making it a better experience. I walked to the top (the longer route) and the views were outstanding. Only down side one single lane in one single lane out can't imagine what that must be like on a busy day. There are lots of passing places on route though. There is a cafe and toilets on site (50p coin to use) parking costs £5 but it said £10 online.

S E — Google review

A beautiful waterfall to visit in Wales, well worth the climb to the top! It was £5 to park but free to enter, loads of parking on site. The drive in can be very techarous so caution is advised! It was very busy on the public Bank Holiday. There are two choices to climb to reach the top of the mountain, a steep quicker trail or a slow easier climb. It was an hours climb but beautiful views at the top with lots of space to explore 🌲🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Rebecca H — Google review

Amazing Waterfall and worth the visit. The road to the attraction is only wide enough for single vehicles so use the passing points. The car park costs £5. The tea shop is worth a visit, very nice and cool inside with a great selection of treats and cakes. The toilet are located outside and costs 50p, the machine there will accept 10p and 20p. The walk to the top of the water fall is 1km and takes about 35mins.

Kuldip S — Google review

View from the top of the falls is defo something you have to see. Takes about an hour to get to the top as it’s fairly steep and alot to view and see on the way up, taking pictures etc little pit stops! There are 2 paths to get up, 1 is extremely challenging as it’s cut from the rocks and the steps are sometimes extremely high the other of a steep path criss crossing the face of the mountain. Lots of running water coming down the paths too. Wear suitable footwear and clothing you don’t mind getting muddy in. Cafe great selling hot and cold drinks and homemade cakes. You must park in the car park provided which takes cash or card and costs £5 till 5pm when the gate closes. Do not park on the road leading to as you will be fined £70.

Rachel D — Google review

Amazing place to visit, fantastic views from the top of the waterfall.Cafe, car park and toilets.£5 for 8 hrs and 50p for toilets, can't moan for the upkeep

Mark C — Google review

An awesome waterfall, definitely worth five stars. You'll gasp when you take in this spectacular natural picture postcard. It truly is awe inspiring. Now the drive is a different story, let me add though you are going to see some magnificent backdrops that will have you pulling over and taking those forever memories with your cameras. A huge majority of the road you'll be driving is single track, there are many passing points but if anything like our journey you will be squeezed and probably the odd occasion forced to reverse back down the windy lanes so it's best your passenger is your worthy co-pilot and obviously be patient. We came across at least one boy racer and a local tractor driver so after a tricky reverse around a very problematic bend we finally carried on with our journey. I'm sure there may be easier routes available but I didn't plan that far ahead and honestly once we arrived it was definitely worth the bit of stress caused. Warning whilst there in the middle of nowhere you'll need 50p for the public convenience and £5 for the parking. You can park for free a short distance away but I'd have only risked parking there in a 4x4 but that's entirely up to you obviously. However you get there you will absolutely love the view. Make sure your camera is fully charged because you'll definitely be taking pics.

Lee W — Google review

Fantastic area to walk in. Once you are away from the falls themselves, you'll largely have the place to yourself. Although we did go in January, not the most popular month for casual walkers! We parked at the falls and walked up Cadair Berwyn. Beautiful scenery and peace and quiet. The falls themselves are lovely. You need to walk to the top though to fully appreciate them. Cafe at the bottom was charming, and the hot chocolate after our walk hit the spot! Assume summer will be a little busier.

Stuart B — Google review

The highest waterfall in Wales and England. It's best appreciated when in full flow, it can dry up to a trickle in the drier months. There's only a little carpark at the cafe.Good walks around the area.

John J — Google review

Beautiful falls, nice little cafe/shop. £5 to park and car park closes at 5. We took the flatter easy walk but you could go a bit of piste and get there quicker. The road to it is NOT motorhome friendly. Even the passing places are incredibly narrow and we had a very dangerous moment at the edge of the road. Lesson learnt but wanted to pass on to future MH travellers.

Kirby G — Google review

Great day out here with the kids, walked up to the top of the waterfall for some great views, then back down into the little cafe for a hot chocolate and some cake 😎 carpark is £5 all day, be sure to take 50ps with you for the toilets.

Ste M — Google review

Awesome waterfall worth a trip to!Falls are free (although signs of some barriers erected that may mean future fees). Parking is paid and has endless signs saying strict enforcement (not too welcoming). We parked in an area just before the official parking which was free and not blocking passing places. The walk itself is very short to reach the falls but I think there’s a few extra routes if you’d like to go further. The road to here is somewhat narrow with passing places but if you are used to countryside roads and able to take it slow and reverse when needed it is no problem.

Seb M — Google review

Absolutely marvelous. One of the most beautiful waterfalls I've seen.Easy to reach there but the way is slightly narrow. There are passing places but beware of the oncoming vehicles. Make sure to carry an extra pair of clothes as the water is not too deep and it's easy to get a dip in the water. Though slightly cold water, it's absolutely worthy of getting in. The main car park closes at 5 but the waterfall is open almost till night or even 24hrs. Park about 100-150mtrs away from the parking lot, there is a small car park that is free of cost but not enough space for more than 5-6 cars. We went there late at around 16:30 and stayed up till 7 and we spent all the time at the base of the waterfall. The path has a sign that navigates you to the top and to the base. When you are at the base, u can cross the bridge and go to the other side which gives you the best views of the falls. U can see the waterfalls slightly away as well, even when you are away from the parking lot. Kids need to be careful though, they can be fine until the bridge but anything near the falls can be slightly slippery. Absolutely stunning views and a place to be. Just loved it.

Jandhyala D — Google review

Parking quite expensive they charge £5 regardless of how long your staying so if you just want a quick wander to the waterfall like we did then £5 is alot for half hour.It was quite busy for a weekday too. The road up is quite narrow. There is a nice little homely cafe at the top where you park.

GreenWood Family Park, located just outside Caernarfon, is a nature-inspired theme park nestled in woodland. It offers a range of activities for families, including tunnels, mazes, trails for kids, magic shows, and crafts. The park features old-fashioned rides and attractions spread across ancient woodland that tell the story of legendary giant Glyn. Visitors can enjoy forest adventures, live shows, and crafts while exploring the park's magical feel.

What a brilliant place to visit! Took my 13, 10 and 7 year old and we had a great day. Staff were lovely and there was plenty to do. Highly recommend

We visited this park as special visitors. This is a family park so you need children to enter. We had special permission to visit without children. The whole aim of the place is to highlight sustainability through fun. We got to ride the green dragon coaster which is the world's only people powered coaster. It is a fun little ride! The staff were very welcoming and friendly. We couldn't have felt more welcome and special. If you have kids this is a brilliant place to bring them.

Myfanw J — Google review

A fantastic place for families with lots of activities for children. A couple of regular play grounds can be found, but there is so much more, including an outdoor trampoline, maze, zip wires, rope bridges, slides and the amazing green run (all weather sled). There are also planned activities you can join at different times throughout the day, and indoor play areas too.

We visited Greenwood for the day whilst on holiday in Wales. Great day for younger children we have a 16 year old and a 9 year old and they both had a fun day. Plenty to do for the 9 year old but even our eldest really enjoyed both the water slides and the roller-coaster. We did take our own picnic but coffee and brownies were good. Thought it was good value for a family day out .

K D — Google review

This was an outstanding day out! Plenty to do can't believe we spent about 5hrs at the park. It was not too crowded either which was nice. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a very tasty meal at the restaurant both adults and children. The service was quick and efficient. Highly recommend a visit.

Sarah E — Google review

Took the kids age 8 & 5 in the summer holidays. We had a blast. No queuing. A real variety of things to do: a magic show, slides, zip wire, animal petting, playgrounds, water slides and loads more! Great value day out! Would definitely go again. We managed to do everything we wanted too, some of them several times. Highly recommend.

Jenny W — Google review

A lot of fun in a beautiful location. What made it for us was the water slide and the fact that every member of staff we interacted with was really friendly, chatty and helpful. They seemed as pleased to be there as we were. My daughters went on their first roller coaster and loved it. An excellent and unexpected day out! Be ready to walk up a lot of steps though!

Mike B — Google review

Fantastic family day out. Really enjoyed everything the park had to offer, great facilities, excellent Bacon bap. Loads to entertain the kids, adults and grandparents.Face painting, food, ice cream and drinks. Plenty of picnic benches dotted around.

Simon R — Google review

A great place to take children our Grandsons age 18 months, 3,5 and 9 had a great time Would not hesitate recommending it for a great family day out A great range of facilities to keep the children entertained from Arts and crafts, rides, activities and Children Show by Jester. Good food, snack outlets plenty of toilets. We had no difficulty spending almost 6 hours there. If we had realised that they offer children meals we could have been there from opening time to closing time. Highly recommend it but the Bare foot Walk is only for the most intrepid 🤭🤭😊😊

How can anyone not rate this place 5 star?We went with my son who is 20 months so was a little worried he wouldn't be able to get on many things. I was wrong, it's catered for all ages and adults have fun as well. The staff were so welcoming, friendly and professional.Free parking!12 pound entry for an adults, we spent 7 hours here so value for money, food was fair priced too.We came away exhausted after chasing the little one round all day.We went in none peak so was nice and quiet, we can't comment on line times for this reason.Just overall one of the best family things we have done in a while and will definitely be back.Thank you!

Mat C — Google review

Family trip with our 4 & 2 year old. The park is really well set out and integrated into the existing woods. Loads of activities but catered more for the 4 year old (you need to be +92cm to go on a lot of the rides). The 4 year old had an amazing day (5 stars from her) but the 2 year old did get a little bored (3 stars). Pricing was great. Overall a good experience and would 💯 return

Andrew Q — Google review

A truly incredible place where you can easily spend the entire day! Once you get your ticket, all the attractions and entertainment are free (just the odd face paint, tattoo or hair braid to pay for! And some of the wee diggers and tractors need £1 to operate)The whole family ages 5-42 had a wonderful time and tried loads of new things. We’ve not even seen the whole park and we’ve been here for 5 hours! If there are queues, they go a lot quicker than expected. The Wizard of Conwy did a magic show and it was INCREDIBLEWhat a wonderful day!

Hope B — Google review

Really nice day out for young families, with most rides and activities only for children.Roller coaster was a good introduction for kids that don't go on them much and one of the few things adults could ride on.Food was reasonably priced and general pretty good.Plenty to keep the kids happy for the day

Stuart M — Google review

We visited the park on a damp day in October and were really impressed. Lots of things for the kids to do. Food and drink were good value and the staff were great, good humoured and really helpful. Our youngest had a melt down as we left, and one member of staff came running up to save the day with a few impromptu magic tricks. A really nice touch to round off a great day out.

Ben D — Google review

We visited on Tuesday and our children said it was their favourite activity of the whole week! We were lucky that the park was quiet, so we didn't need to queue for anything. The kids loved all the activities and did several of them over and over again. Harley the entertainer/magician was our highlight. Not laughed that much in a long time. Thank you!

Danielle H — Google review

Really great family day out. Lots for the kids to do. Was a very hot and sunny day which made it even better. Would highly recommend family's to come and visit.

Craig B — Google review

Fantastic place for the whole family. Loads to do and plenty of shady spots to stop for a picnic or order from one of their many concession stands. The hot food was great and the facilities were cleaned regularly. Be aware, the green dragon rollercoaster was a long wait, we arrived just after opening and we waited for over 45 minutes. Friendly staff, and a reasonably priced gift shop!

James — Google review

Really great experience at this place. The kids thoroughly enjoyed themselves. There’s plenty to do even when it’s busy. We managed to get everything done in a day too which was nice cause the girls didn’t want to miss out. Harley the entertainer was absolutely brilliant and did some awesome magic.Plenty of toilet facilities. The food was delicious too.

Wow what a fantastic trip me and my family had to this place! We found this by chance as we had zip world booked for the later afternoon for a birthday present. So glad we found it! Fun for all the family! From start to finish 10-3 we found something to do ! No massive queues for anything either and all the staff communicated with the kids and made it more fun!! I’ll upload a photo I took and you will see our kids age range was from 3-13 and there was something for them all to have fun together.Prices for drinks and ice cream great too- not ripOff like most places you go to!Thankyou!

Great for our child with ASD.We have never been anywhere like this before, it was absolutely ideal for us.We visited in peak time in the middle of August on a Sunday with our 4 and 6 year old boys.We arrived just as the rides were opening and so didn't have to queue to get on anything. Even at 2pm the park was not that busy and the maximum time we had to queue was just under 10 minutes for the roller coaster. Our eldest son is autistic so often gets overwhelmed by busy and noisy places, but this place felt peaceful even with lots of people around because it is in the forest and is spread out with plenty of space between rides. There were plenty of quiet spots for him to go and take time out and lots of gentle sensory activities, like the enchanted river ride, that allowed him to decompress. There's no loud music, sound effects, flashing lights and sounds of motors whirring that often accompany theme parks, so my son really thrived here.It was wonderful to see him gradually build up his confidence throughout the day. When we arrived he was very daunted by the green run and the roller coaster and was adamant he wouldn't go on either, but by the end of the day he'd been on the roller coaster twice and was up and down the big green run slide so many times. The only parts he avoided were the big water slides and the open air theatre as these were a bit too noisy for him but he went on and enjoyed everything else. All the staff were absolutely lovely, they were helpful and attentive and really polite. We had a memorable and special day, and would definitely visit again. Many thanks

We had a wonderful time at Christmas lights. Really friendly staff, nice coffee & mince pies, soft play and create a bear. Really recommend. Good value for money.

We truly had the most amazing day here. My 10 year old and 4 year old autistic little boy had the best time. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and when my little boy got overwhelmed they gave him and his sister a free ice cream. Cafe was amazing and food was served extremely quickly. If i could give more stars i would.

Steph J — Google review

Went with our kids who are 6 and 3. They had a great time. Even for our little boy who was just too small for the 1m limit on some of the things there were lots of things to do. We spent 5hrs there abd ended at the soft play (part of the price) at the end. Felt expensive when we paid but by the time we'd finished it seemed fairly well spent.

Gareth G — Google review

What a fantastic place for families. So many things to do. We were there for the entire day and did not stop smiling the entire time. My son is 7 and he loves everything, from the roller coaster, to the solar splash ride to the huge jumping bag. Plenty of places to stop and have a break or picnic. Will definitely be back.

Deirdre D — Google review

A great fun day with my kids and grand sons... Lots to do and see and the staff were warm and friendly, not like a lot of theme parks... Rides are simple but such good fun and faster than you think in a fun way.

Philip E — Google review

We absolutely loved this place. It is so well planned out with so many fun activities for kids or all ages, including the big kids. We were fascinated by the rollercoaster! The barefoot walk was unusual to find and a first for our kids. We loved how everything was created within the landscape up on the slopes and in the wooded areas. Facilities were plentiful and clean. We had a ball and wished we had arrived first thing in the morning to make the most of everything. We will definitely be back if we are in this part of Wales again.

Claire D — Google review

Excellent! We went 5-8pm in late December for Father Christmas and it was great. Got super lucky with no rain or wind. Nice relaxed light trail for kids to enjoy with things to do on the way round. Magician was fantastic. Grinch was fantastic. Enjoyed soft play before we went home. Great experience overall and great price. Best Father Christmas experience we have ever been to.

Jason S — Google review

Visited with the family on a random Sunday with friends and had a fantastic day out. We stayed from opening until closing and loved it all.The park was quiet enough that we didn't need to use the ride access for my autistic son and the majority of rides were so empty that he could just run around and get on the same ride over and over again without queuing. The one negative is the disabled parking. Although it is directly in front of the entrance, the car park is made up of large rocks which makes it impossible to move a wheelchair across it.

Thomas B — Google review

Review CAVEAT- didn't go inside. My review is intended for families looking for soft play options in the area. It was a yellow weather warning, horrendous wind and downpour. We wanted to kill a few hours in the soft play area. Because it was Easter, they wanted to charge £60 for 2 adults and a toddler to enter soft play and weren't willing to negotiate on price. Park seemed pretty empty otherwise. I don't think this is made clear on the website, so leaving this review just for reference for other people considering visiting.

Jack D — Google review

The park is excellent and we always enjoy our visit. However this time it was let down by the lack of catering services. I queued at the cafe behind the theatre for 15 minutes only to be told they were not selling hot food today, there wasn't any signage to this effect, we walked to the cafe near the sand pits, queued for 15 minutes again, only to be told "no hotdogs today" also the wait for a burger was up to an hour, so we had crisps and flapjacks for lunch. Considering we paid peak money for peak opening times, I would have expected catering to have also been moved up a gear. The park is excellent, but I would recommend bringing a picnic.

K R — Google review

Unfortunately Greenwood seems to have an absurd rule that customers can no longer just use the soft play and cafe area, we have to pay a full ticket to access the site. This means that although they are paying staff to run the full site, they are turning away families of preschoolers on term time weekdays who would be willing to pay entry and buy lunch onsite. Seems crazy to me considering the unreliable Welsh weather. There'll be a fair few wet days when the most income they'll get is from soft play and cafe income...(The staff were lovely and tried to recommend other local alternatives- this is no reflection on the facilities or the staff, more on the management decision and the lack of clarity on the website)

We visited Greenwood for the 1st time this Easter, and we absolutely loved it !! There’s so much to do, the views are beautiful even when the trees are still bare.My 9 years old son already requested to come back to Greenwood for his 10th birthday in May and we’re so excited to come back !!Thank you to all the staff for making Greenwood experience so welcoming and lovely !!

Great visit to Greenwood yesterday. Lots of fun had by a 7 and a 4 year old. Some of the rides were not open but that just means we will have to come back again. Staff all very friendly and welcoming A+++

Google seems muddled - this place is not a hotel! It's a theme park, perfect for children aged 2-15! I really enjoy this place and this time we went they even gave us an extra day's admission for free. Everything but food is included with the price of admission and they have soft play, various different rides (rollercoaster, special slides and lots more) and lots of big climbing frames. They also have free shows, which vary throughout the day. This is a MUST if you are in North Wales with kids. We will definitely be back!

Fairy Glen is a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Snowdonia National Park, located within the Gwydir Forest. It's a secluded gorge and beauty spot along the Conwy River, offering enchanting views and picturesque surroundings. The hike to Fairy Glen is relatively manageable, with well-maintained paths and benches along the way for resting and taking in the stunning scenery. While some parts of the trail can be slippery and steep, it's generally accessible for most hikers.

A little hidden gem! Absolutely loved it here. Arrived just after 6am, when the sun was rising, beautiful little walk and so peaceful. Not much to pay either! £1 per adult and £1 for car parking - generosity box is at the gate before entering.Would love to have gone for a little swim if it wasn't so nippy!!

Gem T — Google review

The Fairy Glen is alive with birdsong and water chorus. If you're hearty and hale, I highly recommend walking to it from Betws-y-coed village versus driving to the car park, and I've posted photos from the walk before we arrived at the Glen. Once there, you must clamber down some slippy rocks to come to stream side, but it's more than worth it. Something is here, and it will embrace you.

Bethany B — Google review

Such a beautiful place. Really must see! Run by a lovely lady who came to welcome us and talk about farm and absolutely stunning sheeps- what a treat, so thank you for that. The entrance is as little as a pound, and pound for a car park, such a bargain for what you get. A waterfall is on a steep side, so watch where you put your feet- but you are in the mountains so what to expect! There is a very well kept path leading to more rocky side of the river and fairy waterfall itself, so if you feel brave, walk to see the magnificent world of fairies, magical!

Came here first after landing in Manchester. Yes, it's a bit of a drive, but pleasant. We were still a bit frazzled and tired when we arrived. The walk was absolutely beautiful. The river spot at the end felt magical. So worth it. By the time we walked out we were relaxed and content. Perfect start to our vacation. It does have some grade, steep stairs, and can get slick in the rain so good shoes are a must. Moderate hike.

Dawn J — Google review

The Fairy Glen was a lovely hike! Parts of it are slippery and steep, especially if you go all the way to the end. But we went with my mother in law who is in her 70's, and most of the hike was fine for her; she sat on one of the many benches at a lookout point and waited for us at the steepest part. The paths are all well kept up and there are lots of places to stop and look at the view or take a break, and several benches along the way to sit on if you need to. The Glen itself was absolutely stunning! Great for families.

Miriam B — Google review

£1pp entry and a short, picturesque stroll along scenic fields takes you to the edge of Fairy Glen. A steep scramble down stone steps and rocks and you're in fairy glen itself. We took a picnic which we shared with a young, inquisitive Robin and took a moment to just relax and unwind to the sound of running water and the wind in the trees. A lovely little oasis. Might not be the best for those unsteady on their feet or unable to manage steep uphill/downhill inclines on rock and uneven steps. But for those who can manage it it's worth the walk.

Emma H — Google review

Beautiful place! Worth the small hike there for sure!It is in private land so you will have to pay the nice lady 1 pound for parking and 1 pound pr person walking to the Glen. She came outside when we were parking.Watch your steps if it is raining or wet. There are a lot of opportunities for slipping on the rocks near and in the Glen.

Helene K — Google review

Beautiful place, some very steep drops and slippery paths so be careful with the kids

Tony M — Google review

Beautiful place, convenient car park and the short walk isn't too strenuous other than the steps up and down which are a little steep but worth it. We will definitely be visiting again.

Leanne E — Google review

Been on my visit list for many years...eventually got there. Being a photographer i was hoping for those dream conditions but unfortunately the weather was overcast...there was still ice about from the cold snap so i wore my crampons. Stunning location and i had it all to myself...spent an hour and half down there. It didn't disappoint 🙏

Dave T — Google review

This is a very special place and area. A beautiful, peaceful walk by the river. Once you get to the stone, steps to go down towards the river can be slippery. However if you're careful all should be well. It's incredibly silent even though the running water is noisy. Excelent place to reflect on nature and life itself. Something to point out here is that you will need to pay £1 per head and £1 for your car. Fantastic place to visit. It doesn't get too touristy either.

Luis B — Google review

Absolutely stunning, magical place. If your a terry brooks fan its a must need visit

Mary P — Google review

Magical hidden gem in North Wales. The riverside walk is nice and the views are spectacular. It is £1 parking and per head which is well worth the money. Climbing on to the rocks is a good battle so make sure you wear the right shoes. One of the best places to visit in the UK, would definitely recommend.

Aqib B — Google review

Wow. This is one of the most prettiest places in North Wales. Two very interesting walks. Fairy Glen walk is a bit harder but you cling down the rocks to the river and it is magical. The Riverside walk is an easier walk and so beautiful. The beautiful sheep on the field were friendly and came up to say hello when you walked the path. Saw a lot of birds and squirrels. Will definitely be back for another stroll.

Fazu H — Google review

Nice place, worth visiting. Easy walk except for the last few yards to reach the river where the stairs can be slippery. Entrance is pretty cheap.

Cyril B — Google review

Stunning location for a stroll. There is a small car park nearby for which you pay £1 in the local honesty box, together with £1 entry per person (although I believe that there is someone waiting to take payment during busy periods). You can also take a short walk here from Betws-Y-Coed or from Conwy Falls just down the road which is also worth a visit if you're in the area.

Jim R — Google review

Very peaceful, relaxing place to visit and stay for awhile.Remember to bring coins as they rely on people paying £1 per entry via the honesty box.Would happily contribute £1 to enter as the place is very well kept and maintained

Waterfalls

Located in a charming, wooded area in North Wales, Swallow Falls is a breathtaking waterfall with churning waters that can be reached by walking along a narrow and rocky footpath for 2.5 miles from the Tyn Llwyn car park in Gwydyr.

Last time I was here it was 20 years ago. Sadly the hotel has now been sold to another chain and from what I read it will be reopened soon. Though that doesn’t really matter as the falls are still there and only £2 to enter either with contactless or that old fashioned method known as money. The coin machine takes all UK coins 😂. Once through the turnstiles. The steps down are quiet steep and uneven in places. If you have anyone with you that may struggle with them. You can wander across the top path and see the main falls from here. It’s just as lovely as ever. It’s not huge but there are benches and seats. It makes a great stop off place to see something interesting on any journey.

SAB P — Google review

One of the finest and must visit Water Falls in the North Wales. The force of the water falls is so high and it's just a treat to the eyes. If you close your eyes for a minute, you can feel and enjoy the nature and trust me it's a make you float in the air. You will go to imaginary world. The sound of air, chipping sound birds, ripples of water will get you the goosebumps. For my eyes entire North Wales is one of the best place in the UK. Everyone should visit atleast once in their life time. Their is a entry ticket of 2 pounds per person. Though they are collecting the entry ticket it's shame that their is no facilities like Toilets, Cafe... They need to provide a basic facility like Toilets. If you are driving a car their is a few parking space available. Also their is a bus station close by. Since i drove the car I'm not sure about the frequency of the bus.

Pavan K — Google review

Absolutely stunning waterfall, very relaxing to listen to. There is wheelchair access to see the main waterfall which I think is amazing to be inclusive. If you want to explore further down there are a lot of steps to go up and down, and there is railing however it is getting very rusted and will need repair soon. The entry fee was £2 which was reasonable considering how well maintained it was. There is very limited parking, especially as the hotel opposite has gone so there is even less parking.

Kelly E — Google review

This picturesque natural wonder offers a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. While there is a nominal admission fee of £2 per person, the limited viewing spots ensure an intimate and exclusive experience. Visitors can relax and immerse themselves in the tranquility of nature, making it an ideal destination for families seeking a memorable outdoor adventure. For optimal photography opportunities, it is highly recommended to visit during the summer months.

Ajay B — Google review

Visited in September 2019. I almost gave up to see the waterfall, because during my 2 weeks holiday almost every day I drove on that road A5, and never had a chance to to stop, as the car park was always extremely busy. To be honest it is not a big car park, but someone goes away, 3 others waiting for that space. It can be easier sometimes to park on the other side of the road where is the Swallow falls hotel/pub with its own parking. But because this is the busiest road of the mountain it's not easy to cross the road. The falls are between the Ugly house and Betws-y-Coed on the very side of the road. Then just 2 days before my holiday ended, one evening I found parking space, so I stopped immediately. It is not a huge attraction or something we spend more than 30 minutes by the way, so it's surprising that the car park is always busy. The entrance is a narrow barred iron gate works with coins, £2 per head to get in. I found it very strange, because the waterfall is just next to the road, and seems that it was fenced only for tourists, to get access for money. And as I said, the time we spend there is no more than half an hour but even that is too long. Quite a few steps leads down to different very wet terraces, and it is indeed a lovely waterfall and we can take nice pictures. I can advise to go there early morning or later afternoon/evening, when we can parking easier, and also the terraces are less busy. But be prepared with coins to get in. It is nothing else there, just stairs down to the terraces and back to the gate, I remember 1-2 benches, but that's it.

Evalynn B — Google review

Beautiful place..... the sound of falls is amazing... views are beautifulEntry 2 pounds per person either pay by coins or contact less on the the gates. There is lay-by opposite to swallow hotel for few cars.

Ahsan S — Google review

Stunning. A must see. Well worth the £2 entry fee. As well as the viewing point down a few steps, recommend going down the many steps to see the view from lower down. Helpful and pleasant staff member at the gate. All the parking spaces outside were taken so we parked up the road at Cae'n y Coed National Forest which has a free car park and only a five mins walk from Swallow Falls.

Zee N — Google review

Lovely falls with safety bars surrounding it . Lots of steps . You will get a beautiful view of the waterfall. not recommend for people with difficulty walking . Beautiful falls, but you have to pay £2 for adults and £1 for children.car parking is nearby and easily accessible to the falls

Binu R — Google review

I was surprised to find that you had to pay to see the waterfall but once I did I could see it's well looked after and the stress is made safe. You need £2 per person or it takes contactless cards. Stunning place to spend a few minutes in nature.

Laura A — Google review

Entry fee is £2 per adult and £1 per child under the age of 14. Nice relaxing visit with not too many people around. I also like the fact that the venue was not crowded, so plenty of opportunities to get that perfect Instagram photo.

De R — Google review

What an amazing place to come and visit! So beautiful! There is a £2.00 charge to get in but certainly worth it! You can pay by card with contactless. The entry is through a very narrow revolving gate... not so great if you are on the chunkier side!🤷🤣

A — Google review

Not recommended for disabled visitors. The site has a turnstile access system and an entrance fee of £2 per person. The venue has separate platform viewing levels which are accessible by steep steps. For the best experience, it's recommended to visit the site during or after heavy rainfall to see the waterfalls in full flow. Parking is restricted and the Swallow Falls Hotel was closed due to a major refit and upgrade.

Kevin E — Google review

£2 to get in. You can park on the side of the road. No allocated parking areas. From the entrance, there are only a few steps to the waterfall. It's a must-see ! You can see the main waterfall even if you use a wheelchair. There are about 50 steps to the lower level, but don't miss much if you don't do steps. No toilet. No cafe.

Amanda M — Google review

An incredible natural beauty and lovely location. Hidden away and took my breath away, 100% would recommend. Parking available too. However, there is an entry fee of £2 which is horrendous as everyone should be able to see a sight like this for free. If you can find a way to sneak in, I don't blame you.

Very beautiful, you can pay by card to get in, wasn't busy. It's dog friendly. You can take dogs with you. It's definitely worth a visit. Apparently, it's best to go after good rainfall, which is what we did.

Emily — Google review

Beautiful area , exhilarating falls! We went when it was icy and snowing so had to be extra careful on the steps. This didn't takeaway from the beautiful views though. There are platforms so you can get the best views . It really is good for the soul. There was a charge going through a turnstile but there's facilities to use your card . Will definately go back in different seasons.

Michelle — Google review

Beautiful, stunning falls. Few steps, great viewing points. Highly recommend. £2 per person. Layby at the top on the main road. Hotel and bar across the road that was being renovated at the time. April 2024.

Angela R — Google review

Parking is on the opposite side of the A5 to the North, about 150 yards. Access is via a coin or card turnstile. This is not wheelchair or limited mobility friendly. The falls are accessed via steep and uneven steps with various viewpoints available. Word of advice: look over the wall when on the A5 pavement to see if there is any water in the river. Don't waste money if there isn't. We were lucky as per the photos.

Simon C — Google review

This waterfall was great. There was still a lot of incoming water, although it was a winter now. Both upper view and lower tier view were outstanding. Going down stairs about 5 minutes. Fir both tier, we spend 15 minutes only.£1 per entry using contactless autopay method. No cash excepted. No security guard at entrance

Hock T — Google review

There are no words for how beautiful this place is. Bring some coins with you as there is a turnstile that takes coins. 1 or 2 pound coins work, not sure for smaller ones.

Stefan E — Google review

Went to see this on a week day . Very slite rain, on and off . 2 other couples there. We was there for about 30 minutes when we left the sun was out . And there was about 20 people around us .

Richard A — Google review

Slightly disappointing. The waterfall is beautiful but you pay to get in and see it for a few mins. I thought you could walk to him and see but it's park your car then go and see it then that's it. But if an anti climax sort of thing 😔

Zip World Fforest, located in North Wales, features Europe's longest zip line and is a highly sought-after attraction. This thrilling experience allows visitors to soar through the sky while taking in breathtaking views of Wales from a unique perspective. The original attraction at Zip World, the zip-line takes you on an exciting journey through Penrhyn Quarry with stunning views of the quarry lake below.

Fantastic time - the mountain coaster was well worth the money, it was bigger than we expected and a really fun experience. We had the double car for an adult and child, the coaster takes itself up the hill then you can control the speed coming down.We also booked the tree nets, the kids really enjoyed these but for the price I think it was a waste of time booking for all the adults in our group, adults would not need a whole hour on them. An adult needs to go on with the children but you can sit and supervise too. However it was good to try them and my kids said they loved them especially the donuts and the slides . We took a picnic to keep cost down , there are picnic benches available to use.

We've been here for the forest coaster and it was the best thing ever. Money well spent, what a thrilling experience! I'm so happy we've found this place, honestly. The location of this place is absolutely beautiful, well organised and maintained, friendly and knowledgeable staff, absolutely recommended to anyone. Get out there and have fun! 🤩

A brilliant place! The Zip Safari, high in the forest canopy is amazing! Stunning views and challenging obstacles, all linked by zip wires. The Tree Hoppers Course is great for smaller kids and the Coaster is good fun.Staff are very professional, ensuring that safety is a priority, but keeping the whole experience fun.Big car park. Reasonable food and drink. Amazing views and a great day out. Would highly recommend, the kids have a great time in a beautiful place.

A must try in UK! You can get 20% off when you bought 2nd facilities. The forest coaster has 3 rides, and if you buy their video they would give you one extra ride, which means you could have 4 rides! For people who did not want to play plummet, go try the Sky ride! So much fun and the view is fascinating!

Great day out, highly recommend coming here. The roller Coaster was fantastic and really fast. And the kids high wire was great plus quite large, will keep them busy for a while.

Had lots of fun, booked for the forest coaster which was very fun; you can slow down and speed up using the levers whenever you want and you get 3 goes each. Also went on the tree hoppers with a younger sibling which was fun for him but also for me as if I'd never been on a zipline before even if it was mainly for younger children. Also your second activity gets a 20% discount if you paid for one that day.

Ionut A — Google review

Had a great family experience with our 4 year old. We did the treetop nets, it was perfect for her and lots of fun for all ages. You get an hour on the nets which is perfect amount of time. We especially liked the donut slideWe had lunch in the little cafe and all had burgers which were very tasty and severed quicklyWill definitely return when she is a bit older and taller to do the other activities

David M — Google review

Really lovely place. We only went on the forest coaster, but even with a 5 and 7 year old there were two other activities we could have booked. Forest Coaster was clearly the busiest activity. Overall really great outdoor activity even in the rain.

Great experience in the forest zip park... kids enjoyed the forest coaster. It was really fun for kids to enjoy the rids. There are lots of free spaces for parking . The toilets were clean and well maintained. Great customer services and staff were professional ..

Ahsan S — Google review

Just the best. We only did the toboggan through the forest, although there are other exhilarating activities to do. At first, I was scared at how high the cars went before they rode down, but when I completed the first course, I was excited to go again. You get 3 goes, and it is brilliant because you control your speed, although you only break slightly if you are plunging round the tight corners. My partner didn't hit the breaks once until he got to the end. My boys loved it. 😍

Ris A — Google review

What a wet and miserable day but made totally fun by our couple of hours spent here. The Zip Coaster was good fun, with 3 goes for your money. What a laugh as we challenged each other not to brake at all!Plenty of free parking, and the staff were great.Money well spent and recommended

Paul S — Google review

Fantastic! Whole family had a go on the forest roller coaster which was a lot of fun and something unique in the UK, I think. You get 3 runs down for the price. Well maintained, great forest location. Also did the swing which was fun. Cafe was good, nice and warm.

Chris P — Google review

Came for the Fforest coaster with my husband and three year old son. We all loved it, our son was shouting to go faster! Big thanks to the two guys Jack and Steve. We also enjoyed the pine run, you can purchase one ball for 2.50 or two balls for 4. Which is a lovely souvenir.Definitely returning for the swing! And telling family and friends to try out the coaster.

Lorraine S — Google review

We specifically visited this location to experience the Fforest Coaster, and it proved to be a worthwhile investment. For a mere £25, you will receive three coaster rides. The initial ride serves as an orientation, while the second and third rides offer the opportunity to request an action camera to capture your reactions. Additionally, you have the option to take multiple rides.

Ajay B — Google review

Absolutely epic experience. We only did the fforest coasters at this site but it was brilliant. Family of 4, for less than £100 and it was 100% worth it. Videos of each descent are around £8. The staff were friendly, helpful and polite. My only criticism was that we were told to get there 30 mins early… however that was pointless as we were then waiting in a queue for 30 mins. People for our time slot turned up at the exact time and were right behind us but that didn’t take anything away from the experience.

Matthew B — Google review

We had a week in Wales with the main intention of doing all the various Zipworld activities. We ended up spending more with them than we did on our cottage for the week! It's expensive but worth it for the unique experiences they offer. Our third and final visit was to the FForest Coaster at Betws-y-Coed. We had only pre-booked the coaster but also did the swing, plummet (twice) and had a second set of goes on the coaster. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed it. The activities were great fun and the staff were all extremely friendly. My daughter initially did plummet by herself and then persuaded me to do a tandem jump with her. I thought the big swing might make me sick (the only ride at theme parks I dislike is the pirate ship) but it turns out the g-force is to intense to think about your stomach at all! The coaster was definitely the main event and we're already looking where we might be able to do another when we visit Canada this summer. After doing the first couple of runs with no brakes (to prove how tough I was), I actually discovered the braking gently just before the corners actually increases the intensity and prevents the auto-braking from kicking in. We also had lunch in the snack-bar and a coffee in the cafe at the bottom. A great day out finished with a lovely walk around Betws-y-Coed afterwards.

Fabulous experience for all the family. Loads of fun and highly recommended. The staff were really helpful and friendly and I cannot commend them enough. One not to miss.Thank you Zip world !

Really enjoyed it here. I went on the tree net thing & the coaster. Coaster was my favourite & the staff were so polite & informative. The price was a bit on the high side but it was an experience.

Family experienced the Fforest Coaster (I held the bags) and thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff were great, especially those in the reception and check-in who couldn’t have done more. It all still runs except for the in the worst weather so even though it was a bit rainy it’s something amazing to do. Make sure you grab at least one video of your experience. It’s worth it.

This beach is a wide, sandy beach with dunes behind and rockpools near the shore. The view of Cemlyn Bay is beautiful. The toilet block in the car park is kept lovely and clean.

Gorgeous beach, and big when the tide is out. We enjoyed a good walk and made use of the loos on the car park and the lovely beach cafe.We had fun making footprints in the clay, watching cormorants and a flock of black brant geese.

Beautiful beach, good parking but you do need to pay and display we paid £4 for a couple of hours. Local shops so we stopped to eat fish and chips on the beach. Beautiful landscape for photos, dog friendly. We seen lots of little crabs. Good walk across the beach. Worth a visit with a family as there is loads of room for games.

A lovely beach and great facilities. But beware of the parking charges. There is an ANPR and they like to give out fines. It's a private company and fines are £60 (£100 if not paid in 14 days).

This beach is just beautiful! The car park is very close to the beach, so you don't have to walk too far. This beach has breath taking scenery, places to walk and discover along the beach or up on the hill trail area which takes you to other parts of the beach and you can see what the place looks like from above (I highly recommend it as your pictures will be absolutely stunning). The toilets were also clean and not too far of a walk to get to!We would definitely be back again to visit!

Great beach. Beautiful sand. Beautiful view of the bay. Pool left behind by tide had all the kids boating and splashing in like a swimming pool. Close to car park which was free on our visit today. Toilet block in car park, kept lovely and clean. 10/10. Can't wait to come back.

Lovely Sandy, dog friendly beach. Great for families. Ice cream, pizza and other snacks available (be prepared to queue when busy). Gets very full in school holidays so arrive early for the best spots. Toilets available too. Wear some shoes when walking on sand as there are sharp pieces of shell everywhere and sand dunes hurt to walk bare foot through!

Mountain peak

Nature & Parks

The Great Orme is a limestone peak in North Wales, and it's famous for its views. The walk around the peak is very popular, and it's also possible to take the cable car up to the summit. There are many shops, restaurants, and bars in Llandudno near the mountain peak.

Lovely walks, nice tram journey available and great views of the coastline.

Steven D — Google review

We walked up to the orme going past the tramway station, quite a steep climb that way. Some great views on the way up. We didn't use the tram but a good way to get up there if you have mobility issues. Some lovely views at the top there is a cafe at the top, insure of the menu or prices as we didn't use it. Several paths around the orme again the views are stunning. We went to St. Tudno's Church lovely inside very peaceful. Definitely worth a visit. We walked back down a different path which started after we came out ofthe church yard it came past the ski centre and ended back in town I thought it was a better path not so steep.

Adrian L — Google review

Just amazing views all around and great hiking. We completed the ordnance survey route, just about three hours to complete with amazing scenery all around. Peaceful and quiet, very relaxing.

Michael J — Google review

Great place for a walk, walked around it from the West shore where there are some great views to be had.The heather was in full bloom when we visited - lovely.Got stared at by a gang of Great Orme ram goats - I didn't stare back 😇.

rooie16 — Google review

Stunning views and easy walk. Pavement the whole way round. Very peaceful in parts and opportunity to veer off if you wish. We did the full to the summit .Enjoyed the beauty 😍

Francisca F — Google review

truly love wales..so beautiful.. always breathtaking views.. am always stunned..always

Mei S — Google review

Nice place to come and bring a picnic. Can get very busy when the weather is nice but it is well worth the steep trip to the top to observe the views across the town and out to sea. There are loads of things to do whilst up here, the mines and the old church are great to explore. A good place to bring the camera and take some pictures.

Leon C — Google review

Absolutely love this place! It was a bit difficult to walk till the top without the train and cable car but was a great experience. Really is a great spot for hiking in a sunny winter day.

Amy Z — Google review

Went back for a visit after 10 years, was a beautiful sunny day which made it better albeit very windy, stunning views all around, small cafe open next to the playground, parking was cash or card.

Lisa S — Google review

Took the tram up as it was a hot day, Excellent views as we went up, Decent cafe at top which gets busy, As for the views, Just stunning, we walked all around and came across the goat's and sheep, There is another cafe on the far side, which is handy on a hot day. A must visit when in Llandudno.

Darryl P — Google review

Wonderful scenery. You can drive or walk.If driving, be aware of the sheep. Sometimes, they can appear where you expect the least. If walking to the top, have in mind if the weather gets windy, cable cars might not be working for safety precious.

Aurelija P — Google review

Definitely worth the worth visit and the views are brilliant. There's a few ways to get up and down but be aware half way tickets cannot be purchased at the half way tram stop, only at the top or bottom.Plenty of space and nice little shop at the top.Would recommend.

Bruce W — Google review

I visited hwylfa'r ceirw 2 rows of white stone for around 100yards towards the sea formingAn avenue/track way ...you only get to see them clearly in winter/early spring when the bracken is at its lowest. There are also 2 round houses at the start and to the left of the rows as your looking towards sea..and the questionably named roman well is close by ...diwrnod gwych....great day

Martin C — Google review

Been a couple of times, and the drive up is amazing the scenery is beautiful, there's a church and cemetery half way up , loads of sheep and rabbits, it was a very windy day up at the very top, but lovely in the cafe, where you can buy sandwiches and lovely cakes, brilliant photo opportunities all around,

Cathy S — Google review

Wish I could rate this place 10 stars! The toll is 4.5£ for a car in 2023 still very cheap considering free parking. The view from top is breathtaking. I never climbed that much height before but when reached there and saw the north side I was amazed. There is free parking, child play area, visitor toilet as well as cafe or eating place. You also can play mini golf, I can just seat and enjoy the green mountain top, blue sky and green/blue water views for hours. I recommend to go there on a sunny day for best views and also be careful to walk, its very windy. When you climb down and finish the full marine drive it will just gave wonderful memories.

Ahamed C — Google review

Beautiful drive or even get the tram take in the views and have a cake and coffee at the summit.

Vicky G — Google review

Love this place. Can't visit Llandudno without a drive up the Orme. I've also been up there, in the past, using the tram, which is a great experience. Never used the cable cars though.

Cris S — Google review

What a great place for amazing panoramic view. So much going on, tram on one side, cable car on another. Also possible to get up by car. Cafe and toilets available, nice to just relax and enjoy the view

Jovita L — Google review

Quite a nice place to visit. If you go on a nice day there are plenty of views to be had. A fun crazy golf course that opens after 11:00. The cafe if well priced and the cakes seem to be of ample portions. Go on a return journey by tram if that's your thing or drive to the top with stunning views. The only down side for me was the over priced car park at the top. Starts at £4.50.

Lee P — Google review

Took the tram car up and the views was breath taking. Definitely worth a visit up. 2 Nice little cafés up there and mini golf a little park as well. Also a great souvenir shop.

Scenic Walking Areas

The wide-curving Promenade in Llandudno was built in the 1800s and is today a bustling space for all. It's an accessible space for walking through public paddling pool, sandy beach, grandiose Victorian buildings, to the stonier North Shore Beach.

Such a beautiful place fill with all the old Uk seaside attractions from everyone’s childhood. Great to see all the beautiful sea front buildings so well maintained. Great walk with stunning sights. So much to do and see here, some great views out to see and of the Great Orme and pier too.

Chris L — Google review

Short break, really clean prom. Lovely town, lots of shops ( they don't open very early though). Spoilt for choice tea/coffee shops and places to eat. Need good weather to enjoy the place which fortunately we did. Really enjoyed it.

Pauline M — Google review

Lovely wide promenade to walk along next to the North Shore Town Beach.Lots of benches to sit on along the prom where you can sit and enjoy the views.

Annie T — Google review

I think this is one of the best proms in the country. It looks stunning from a distance and up close.Only be a few of the hotels are a little past their best but the fully functional pier and punch and Judy show add a sprinkle of nostalgia of a bygone era.

Franco C — Google review

Llandudno is a lovely place, so clean and tidy. Can get quite busy, so arrive early if you don't like crowds. Plenty of parking, again, get there early. The pier is lovely, plenty of seating areas and places to eat. 10 out of 10.

Keith B — Google review

This would have to be extremely popular in the height of Summer, a great area to explore located in a picturesque cove. Pretty much how I would envision any great European esplanade, loved the historical buildings lining the shores. Only downside is the lack of public toilets in this area, perhaps we just overlooked them.

Life's A — Google review

Very good for walks with friends, family or date with your partner. Night walks are very pleasant after a hot day. It's illuminated, you have benches and the main street is few feet away. Restaurants and takeaways are in a few minutes walking distance. Runners will like it since the sea air cleans your lungs.

Daniel M — Google review

Lovely promenade to walk and very easy access for prams and wheelchairs as well. Mostly a calm place where it’s the sea and you… and the seagulls. Busy on weekends and holidays but the hustle bustle feels good as well

Dr K — Google review

What a beautiful place to visit, had a lovely day.Easy to park the car & easy to get around on my mobility scooter. Even the pier was scooter & dog friendly. Definitely recommend.

Chelle — Google review

A nice stroll along the prom on a nice day is brilliant! Wonderful people you meet then along the pier! Views either side and back in land are worth the stroll. Plenty places for replenishment!

Robert H — Google review

Lovely walk. Different from one end to the other. Great place to people watch. Do not eat by the pier end. The seagulls are vicious.

Gerald L — Google review

Amazing promenade well worth a walk along it will take about 20 minutes or so to get from one end to the other. Great location to forget the world and blow the cobwebs away. There are plenty of eateries just off the front. A peer at one end with lots of amusem*nts for young and old. There are even speed boat rides weather permitting. It’s a definite recommendation from me.

Spike S — Google review

Love the wide promenade. Easy walking and plenty of shared space for cyclists, wheelchairs etc.If you fancy more of a challenge, the walk up to great Orme has some stunning views.

Stephen C — Google review

Amazing place to day out with family. Good food, activities for both kids and adults and beautiful clean blue water. The seagulls are a bit naughty but definitely recommend to everyone to visit. Will go again.

Sifat — Google review

It's a nice place to walk hand in hand, with your loved ones, It is nice until many more people get the same idea as you. Then it's crowded and you have to watch your surroundings so you don't bump into people around, rather than watching the view.A free parking slot could be tricky to find, parking machines are available. The mobile signal is very poor, (at least O2).Plenty places to eat, public toilets are there as well, but queues 🤷‍♀️.

Pavla M — Google review

Pleasant, relaxing, scenic place anytime, morning, afternoon, evening, night. A continuous, curved bench a quarter mile long accommodates beautiful sunrises, tides, and people watching. Free concerts (donations accepted)!

Gary I — Google review

Beautiful place, stayed not far from the main town. Clean tidy, dog friendly (although came out of season). Definitely coming back to explore some more

Chellw B — Google review

We attended the 2024 vdubs on the prom there was over 250 vw's on the prom it was a well organised event on the prom only volkswagon campers and cars some top class motor's all shapes and sizes. We also had the pleasure of glorious sunshine 🌞 all day 😎🤙

Matthew B — Google review

Lovely place to visit. It's very clean and tidy, either a bit of a buzz about the town. We will definitely be back in the summer.

Alan P — Google review

Lovely stroll along the promenade. It's clean and well maintained. Plenty of small shops to buy souvenirs or snacks. Few fairground rides for kids too

Mick C — Google review

My wife and I strolled along the very wide and long promenade on a dry but windy and chilly day. Everything looks clean, litter free and graffiti free. Seating all along the rear of the promenade and new sheltered seating area being installed. We couldn't believe the number of wind turbines out in the sea. All the hotel fronts look well maintained. We walked out to the end of the pier and had hot refreshments in the ocean cafe.

Darth R — Google review

A beautiful picturesque spot to relax and unwind. We arrived just after sunset, however the view was still stunning and we could see lighting in the far away distance across the sea as the skies were clear. The promenade is beautifully lit up as the evening approaches so visiting day or night is recommended.

LionessExplores — Google review

At almost 2 miles long it's impressively maintained and a lovely place to walk taking in the Ormes Bay / Llandudno Bay, especially at sunset in the summer. Annoyingly popular with cyclists, runners and dog walkers. Can be difficult to park. The Pier at the west-end is a cool place to visit, as is 'The Great Orme' beyond that. The grand, Victorian-style buildings remind you of days gone by where Llandudno was flourishing as a great tourist attraction. Today these buildings have been split into flats and mostly low-end hotels.

Daniel E — Google review

Lovely walk along the promenade, always easy to park and great shops too.

janetn — Google review

We were headed from Manchester to Conway castle and decided to stop to see the Llandudno Promenade. It was absolutely worth it. Stunning views all along the waterfront. I would love to see it again in warmer months.

Llandudno Pier, an elegant Victorian structure adorned with a variety of seaside novelties and food stalls, serves as the epitome of a quintessential British seaside resort. As Wales' largest holiday town, Llandudno offers traditional family vacations and unique romantic getaways. This picturesque destination boasts long beaches on both sides of its peninsula, complemented by a magnificent and enchanting promenade.

Amazing bit of Victorian engineering. Always a pleasure to see and stroll along, a real trip down memory lane visiting the pier. Beautiful at night with the sea front all lit up. A great place to grab a coffee and sit for a while.

Chris L — Google review

Great pier. Really lively, lots of small shops selling the usual souvenirs and refreshments. Big wheel near the prom, punch and Judy and arcades. Lovely views out to sea and Llandudno seafront. We even saw jellyfish in the gorgeous clear water. Highly recommended!

Susan W — Google review

The place is very lively and has a ton of things to do. From retro arcades to souvenirs, shopping, and tons of food options. The sea view from here is pretty amazing. The water is turquoise blue, and just standing on the pier and taking in the atmosphere can be a very healing experience.Highly recommend for a weekend visit here!

Mushfiqur R — Google review

A bit deserted on a Wednesday in May, with the pier getting a lick of paint on the metalwork from a gang that looked like community service "volunteers", and dubious 80's music blasting out along the pier. But it brought back a lot of memories of visiting these places as a kid in the 80's. I especially enjoyed feeding the simple slot machines 2p pieces. For £2, we had a lot of fun getting tickets for silly prizes. Nice views of the Llandudno promenade as well.

Douglas A — Google review

Very bracing walk out to the end of this Victorian pier. All the usual amusem*nts and hot, crunchy portion of chips to take back along the promenade. Wonderful.

Graham S — Google review

This was near perfect. Llandudno is such a beautiful place that coupled with the right weather it will remain in your hearts forever. There are many good food spots on the pier . Particularly liked the fish and chips. It was not overcrowded, but there were enough tourists to make it a jolly affair. Walking up and down the pier through the wind has such a calming effect on us.

Akhil T — Google review

Lots of bits and bobs to do and look at. Bring money if you have kids because there are lots of rides!Fresh Donuts are highly recommended! The record shop had decent prices and there are a few arcades on the pier. Please leave a donation for Punch and Judy, even if you don't get to see the show. It's such a great tradition!

Melissa W — Google review

What a great pier! It was honestly like stepping back in time with all the traditional rides for children and hook a duck etc.Great for people watching too. There was a great character walking up and down with his two toy monkeys in a pram and music playing! It put a smile on my face. Great bar at the end of the pier and amusem*nts too.

Tara — Google review

We had a wonderful time at the pier. It's a perfect place to enjoy beer and small snacks. We also had fun playing arcade games. The arcade at the beginning has more games, while the one at the end is less crowded. It's a place where you can spot both children and adults having a great time. Additionally, there are other small rides available for kids.

Shikha S — Google review

First time back in Llandudno for 2 years.I was impressed with the investment, there were several positive changes to the town, the peer and the general area.It was clean and we found lots to do.The peer was bustling with life, 95% of the shops were trading and the arcades had been renovated with new machines and a modern card system. Will definitely be back soon

Phil E — Google review

Fantastic place of visit in North wales. No need to go down to the south of England for the beach gate away as this place’s scenery is incredible, calm, and relax. I wish I could have lived in this town for a long term. Will definitely come back to visit here on summertime. Also the town is loads of shops, restaurants, b&b, hotels.

Chalun C — Google review

Visited last weekend. Nice place to visit individually as well as with friends and family. Games are available for children. Lots of space to sit and enjoy many views. Many shops around. I definitely recommend visiting.

Vaibhav P — Google review

Busy but unique atmosphere Pier. Lots of bits and bobs on a side, small pub at the end, and snack bar. Nice view to a Llandudno coast line. Definitely recommend you try fish and chips at the beginning of the pier - worth waiting in a queue!

Anna G — Google review

It was a gorgeous day weather wise, so an hour or so on the pier. Some lovely little shops, one with some fantastic art in to purchase. Stopped for a soft drink and a sit down to people watch. Lots to do for families, children's rides, etc. Toilets also available. Will definitely be back

Janet H — Google review

Such a wonderful promenade and delightful pier to visit, even off season (January). The shops and refreshment kiosks at the Promenade end of the pier are really good quality, and the staff are so friendly.

Andy G — Google review

A perfect place to spend time with your family and friends. It has good options for snack and coffee. Near the entrance there is a a big area fir kids activities.

Dhiraj L — Google review

Great couple of hours spent here at Llandudno pier. Plenty of little shops selling anything from bobble hats and clothing to rock, donuts, special cheeses and souvenirs. Also a lovely shop selling ornaments and shells we picked up gorgeous sea horse for our seaside theme at home. We also went in Oceans cafe for a cuppa after the walk down to the end of the pier. Lovely staff with great reasonably priced food and drinks.

Cath M — Google review

A really lovely pier!! It has some great history behind it and you can see great care is taken of it!!Incredible views from the pier back to the buildings along the cost!!Amusem*nts on the end are decent and the toilets were definitely recently renovated!!!!

Ben H — Google review

Lovely views. Typically pier type shops and cafes. Parking nearby hard to find but nice to walk to from town.

Liz W — Google review

Lovely old fashion pier which we enjoyed walking around. there was a lovely pub at the end and surprisingly in February everything was open, well almost everything. The arcades were old-fashioned too with penny slots and certainly gave off a nostalgic vibe. The views of the bay were great from the end of the pier too.

Wild N — Google review

Arguably one of the best piers in Europe. With beautiful scenery, lots of fun activities and cool things to buy, Llandudno Pier is one of my favourite places to visit. You can take the kids along, there are so many games, rides and food to keep them occupied. You’ve got to visit.

PERKINS O — Google review

The pier let us view the stunning the scene of the ocean as well as the beach. The straight footpath on the pier with shops is very comfortable for pedestrians and dog walkers. What you should care is to select a day with nice weather.

Teki C — Google review

Meh. Quite disappointing. It's been a long time since I last came to the pier and it's not as great as I remembered it. The big play area is no more. I'm fairly certain it burnt down many years ago and has never been replaced. The arcades are sub- standard (think an even cheaper version of Blackpool (if that's even possible)). The pier has seen better days. It doesn't look like any maintenance has been performed in the last 20+ years. You can get plenty of overpriced drinks/ice cream/sugary snacks from the various shops/stall there. There is plenty of overpriced cheap tat and even a shop dedicated to selling counterfeit LEGO.The only good things really are the views. The views are stunning, it's just a shame the rest doesn't match. The whole place just needs to be cleaned up and updated.

Simon M — Google review

Once parking was sorted at £3.50 for 4 hours it was time to explore. The shops on the pier were just starting to get ready for Easter. Flashing Lights arcades are mostly cashless, but still worth a visit. The drive east along the coastal road is very relaxing.

Malcolm W — Google review

In our hometown, great that it's still free! Always a great atmosphere and Adam and his team are doing a fabulous job of building up it's customer base. Great pub at the end with reasonable prices.

Andrew G — Google review

Piers are a great British institution, they would never be built in today’s modern world so we have to maintain, celebrate & enjoy these special places & Llandudno pier is no exception. A great pier - one of the best in the UK.

Nigel S — Google review

Not many of these are left now so it's well worth a visit. There are lots of things going on even out of season and the views off the pier are amazing. It can get a bit manic in the height of summer so if you want to enjoy this little gem at a more chilled pace then it is worth coming during the winter months. As with most places like this you have to have realistic expectations, the pier is a little rundown but for me that just adds to the charm, prices in the shops are a little high but that is just a sign of the times and most of what they sell is the usual tat that you get at this sort of place but that's the point of Coming. Combined with a walk around the town centre this makes for a very pleasant day out.
